The SRS light means you have an error in the restraint system. Making the car extremely dangerous. An airbag could deploy out of no where and cause an accident. Or even not protecting the passengers when an accident does happen. I would suggest you get it checked out with a STAR diag system.

It could possibly be the passenger seat SRS sensor. Does the light come on when someone is sitting in the passenger seat or does it stay off?
You can try raising the seat and looking at the wires to see if any of them are frayed or damaged. If you do find a frayed wire don't fool around with them unless you disconnect the battery for at least a 1/2 hour. Those AIRBAGS are no joke and can hold memory for quite a while.

Ok well the SRS light is gone for now I sprayed some electrical cleaner on the wires leading into the module under the drivers side seat we will see if it comes back

The only way to truly know which component in the system has failed is to have the car scanned with an advanced scanner on the level of STAR/DAS. My guess is that the passenger seat sensor is bad as John suggested. That sensor is the most common cause of the SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) light to come on. Some have installed a seat occupant simulator to get the light to stay off permanently. My SRS light comes on when a passenger first sits in the passenger seat then goes off soon afterward. Sometimes the light will again illuminate when the passenger exits but will go off soon afterward. Eventually, I anticipate a repair job in the making.
My understanding is When the SRS light is illuminated on the dash, this means that the Airbag Control Unit sees an issue in the system and has disabled the system. This means that the airbags will not deploy in the event of an accident. I can not say for certain if this is 100% the case. Hopefully some learned member will correct me if my statement is wrong.
Good luck and post back your success story,
Bob

I don't know what type of vehicle inspection laws they have in CT but in most states if the SRS light is on during their scan the car will not pass inspection.

For right now the light is still off , I have a strong suspicion that it may have just been ashes accumulating near the wiring connector as i do smoke a lot in the car , my seats have the air cushioning and have not worked on drivers side since I bought the car , but after spraying electrical cleaner on the connectors there I heard it briefly shoot out some air , I would still like to know where that sensor is located as mercy me said I do for see a future replacement hope fully not but you never now if the light will come back on , I am still fascinated with these cars and it is an incredible learning experience and money pit and ibeforreal you are right it wont pass inspection like that with the SRS light on I am currently back in RI and just got a new two year inspection a few weeks ago , but it wouldn't pass in RI MA like this CT is no safety inspection cars just have to pass emissions go figure

The sensor is a net-like device covering the passenger seat between the leather and the cushion. The seat has to be removed and disassembled to install the sensor.
