Ok so I determined that the siren is no longer working. I tested it by locking the doors then manually unlocking an individual door. The lights start flashing with no sound. Does anyone know what part needs to be replaced?

the siren is located in the aft portion of the left front wheel well (you have to remove the inner fender. You can't change the battery, you have to change the whole unit, about $100.00.
I replaced mine, but never got it to work; one hint is that it must be connected while the alarm is off, i.e. car ign. on.
It is also possible that it was "deactivated" by recoding, if the owners didn't like accidental or inadvertent triggering.

looks like it, but I got mine from MB for about $100.00.
there are very specific part numbers, and I have heard some of the non-MB don't have the right connectors, just wires.

Try to price match with your dealer. Use a reputable site like Autohausaz. One key feature that is missing is a sound when the car locks. You can get an aftermarket version of the siren unit that makes a sound when you lock it.
Don't get a used one. The age of the siren unit is very important, because when the battery explodes it corrodes the circuit board, and the siren doesn't work anymore.
