I personally don't own a STAR DIAG system but my friend does. I believe he bought his on ebay out of China. Here is an interesting thread on the system.

Here is another company that claims their scanner can do anything the STAR/DAS does. I think this is a US company. https://www.autoenginuity.com/produc...edes-ei17.html

Thanks John

I think I may have a located a company and it looks like they accept paypal which makes me more comfortable what with buyer protection and all. It was recommended by another forum member who personally purchased from them.

I looked through that thread you posted, and somebody knocking them made the claim they can't do offline SCN coding which I will eventually need for my left SAM. I think the replacement needs the AC functions set. I think the newer SD Connect C4 is supposed to do it though. At least the pre 2008 models… IDK if you know anything about that?

Emailing back and forth with China is a slow process. I swear they only check mail twice a day

Just wanted to update. I got ahold of the company via Skype and had a nice chat. According to them SCN coding is supported but has to be activated. Supposedly it can only be activated on 2012.07 version software or older. Otherwise they offer $89 one time access for online coding and they have a guy who will just do it for you with remote login. I chose the the older service. I don't need to work on 2012 plus cars anyway lol. Oh, and they charge an extra 20 to activate it and supposedly give you a version of DAS that will work with it or something. I didn't get that part exactly I just figured they were trying to get the 20 or help justify it but who knows. Either way I'm cool with paying 20 once instead of 89 every time and then dealing w.someone on China time. Having worked in sales I know what it is to charge a couple bucks extra for ish that don't really cost anything extra to do. They were pretty up front with everything and I didn't feel like they were being shady or jerking me around.

www.mbstarshop.com I'm just plugging them for future thread surfers. Ill keep updating this thread as things move along.

UPDATE

STAR is in, ECM is back in fresh from repair.

I don't really know what I'm doing. lol

So anyone with STAR experience, can you tell me on the QUICK TEST, what is the significance of little "f" vs big "F". I assume checkmark is perfect.
I also don't know if I should be clearing codes. I took a few screen shots if anyone is interested. I printed to file but I can't figure out where DAS saved it to…

Still won't attempt to crank, but I did finally get the suspension evened out like it should be, no more sag in the right rear. I guess its a start. Absolutely no pun intended. Still too soon haha.

Also since I know some of you guys are in different time zones and of course schedules, if you have any suggestions on where I should begin or what to do first. So far I'm just kind of playing with it trying to determine what I'm looking at.

Do a search on here and/or benzworld.org using the keyword STAR or DAS. I am almost certain I have seen some of the STAR commands posted.
