New headlights

So I bought these new W222 style headlights and they just came in today. But, according to the website, they are not compatible with the factory HID models (which is the one I have). I heard people say that you can still use them on the HID models so that's why I went ahead and bought them. But I've hit a dead end as to what I do now.... any help? Thanks.

You need to Put an aftermarket hid kit in them

It needs an H1 bulb for the high beam. H9 for the low beam. I would like the 6000k ones.... Will these work?

You can use it with OEM HID but they will melt.
even with aftermarket, they will still eventually melt.

35W kit won't cause any melting. 55W maybe.

Thanks for the heads up. I was about to buy a 55W kit too. I'll keep this post updated and post pictures of the car with the new headlights soon

You probably also need a canbus system

Yeah if you don't want error messages on your dash you need error free canbus

If you already bought the cheap kits you'll need error cancellers

Luckily, I did not buy any HID kit yet. I was waiting for further clarification. So, which HID kit would you prefer?

Depends on your budget. There are cheap kits out there and there are quality kits. And yes, there is a difference in technology and reliability between. We're direct distributors for high end Morimoto HID kits if interested.

Here's the H9 kit
http://www.morimotohid.com/hid-syste...system-h9.html

and here's the H1 kit:
http://www.morimotohid.com/hid-syste...system-h1.html

We at AZNOptics have special pricing on these kits though and can get them for you for $150/kit.

5 year warranty on Morimoto kits.

I was just wondering, can I just remove the current HID bulb I have in the OEM lights and put it in the new ones?

No, wrong bulbs. Won't lock in. Your stock halogen bulbs use H7 for low beam and high beam.

Oh okay. I found another HID kit, these ones actually seem to fit in with my budget and the requirements for not melting, no errors, etc.

What would be your opinion on it?

Both aznoptics and ddmtuning are good options but they are $120-150 per canbus set with better warranties (lifetime at ddm, 5 years at aznoptics ) than the Ebay one you posted.

I have no experience with the eBay ones for $79. But they'll probably be ok too.

If I was you, I would go with a sponsor like AZN Optics vs the e-bay ones. Just for a piece of mind not to mention they are here all the time if you need them.

I will say this... we stock all parts local here in US so if you do have issues, we ship out replacement ASAP as we understand you don't want to be without something as critical as your low beams for long periods of time. Others (not naming names) ship their warranty parts directly from their manufacturer in China which takes a while..

I would really like those ones, but you just have to understand that I already payed $500 on the headlights alone already.... I will probably get the 80 dollar ones since they aren't too over the limit and they are fully compatible. One more question before I buy these.... Do I need to get the H9 low beams for the new headlights too or should I just leave the existing bulb in there and only buy the H1 high beams?

You need both . The oem hid low beams will not work in these headlights . Personally I would get both sets from the same seller so that the color of all the lights match . Otherwise each bulbs will be a different color when lit and look ghetto

Btw I would get 5000k not 6000k color. 6000k often comes out as too dim and too blue with the cheaper kits . 5000k is the nice bright white most of us want

Fully understand, that's why I specified that your choice will depend on your budget

No, I was asking if I NEED to buy the hid low beams for the new headlights too. The new headlights came with their own lights, but I'm assuming I only need to replace the H1 high beam for it to work and I don't need to replace the standard H9 low beam that already came with the new headlights. Is this correct?

The new headlights came with halogen low beams right ?
those will simply not work with your car , since you have oem hid lights .

Damnit.... Looks like I have to drop an extra $150+ on this crap.... also, do you only have to replace the bulb and you're fine or do you also need to install the ballast along with it?

No you have to use the whole hid kit , bulbs ballasts etc . They also require professional installation this is not going to be plug n play

from your questions you don't have experience with lighting and you can do thousands of dollars damage if you do it yourself wrong

Yeah I wasn't planning on doing a DIY on this. So should I just buy the $80 H1 high beam and H9 low beam right now or is there something else I need to know?

I wouldn't recommend buying anything on eBay . You should buy your hid kit from the installer you will use to install the lights. They should be experienced installing hid kits in Mercedes and warranty their parts and labor .

That way if you get error message or a light dies, you can take it back to them to fix it. If you bring all your own parts , they will not warranty It. Aftermarket hid kits have a very high failure rate so the chance you'll need warranty work is high . Find a good local shop and use the kit they sell , warranty and stand behind
