Throttle position sensor cost

Local MB dealer wants $800 to replace tps on my 2001 S430 ??? Sounds a little high? Can't seem to find the sensor price online.

To my knowledge you have the sensor at the pedal and you have the throttle body, which do they intend to replace?

I think it's the pedal.

No separate sensor is available. You must buy the whole pedal assembly.
See attached parts diagram for the part number. Huskers has Genuine Mercedes Pedal Assembly for $150.93 + shipping. Other sources have the assembly slightly less costly supplied by OEM quality replacements.

Good luck,

Bob

Later cars use this:

The chassis split is at A315856 (check your VIN)

Thanks for all the input. I had the work done at MB. Price was $540. Not happy with the outcome. Since this post, I've found a few local shops with good references. Plan to check them out for the next repair. Funny thing, the car is going on 15 yrs and it has 27000 miles. I guess things break due to time.

the gas pedal can be checked in this way, as you release the pedal then grabs a malfunction. Press the gas pedal a little and so did not return until the end of substrates several layers of tape. Then light the car and if after a certain point the gas pedal will work properly, this means that damaged a gas pedal. I had it at home and a fault code P20 DC - interruption at signal path 1. Replaced the pedal on the new Hella discounted for 108USD
