Vibration on front
Hi everyone. I own a 2001 s430 and has weird problem. At speeds of 60-80 I get this vibration from the front. Changed all tires and wheels and balanced but the problem persists. Had airmatic pump replaced 2 months ago. Any suggestions...

Lots of possibilities, could be control/thrust arms, transmission mount, motor mounts, etc. How many miles on the car?
The transmission mount is the least expensive to replace.

Could be any or all of the above. An inspection by a good Indie could lay out the issues for you and provide a quote on costs.

I don't believe the motor mounts will give you a vibration at 60mph. You will feel it more on idle. Same goes with the tranny mount. It will be felt in the middle of the car and mostly on the seats vs the front. The rest may be suspicious ...To the OP, were the wheels balanced on a road forced machine ??

You don't have to go to an Indie for anything. I only suggest the Indie because they normally have the STAR to read the malfunctions. I've spent a lot of money learning this by chasing my tail and replacing things that could be bad rather than fixing the problem. I consider an Indie to be a $100 part that tells me where to go so that if I'm so inclined I can effect the repairs myself. The alternative is to buy a Chinese Star copy to get the in formation.

Since you are a new owner, ( and welcome by the way) your new to you car has likely had the vibration before your ownership. Changing wheels and tires is the usual route to take to cure vibrations occurring at certain speeds only. Before throwing your bank account at it one check at a time, why not take it to an experienced technician, Indy or otherwise and get a professional first hand opinion as suggested. There are too many possibilities to try and "arm chair quarterback" your way through.
Just my 2¢
Good luck,
Bob

2006 S430 4Matic
There is a big difference between the Airmatic and 4Matic. Airmatic is the suspension and 4Matic is the 4 wheel drive. if you have the 4 wheel drive (4Matic) then you could have a problem with the front drive shaft.
