New, can anyone identify this ABC component?

Hi all, new here, been doing lots of homework, but a bit miffed on this ABC component below, what is it and what is its purpose, I pulled it out, quite difficult as the banjo's on each end wouldn't let go. I changed the seals, as I had developed a small leak and thought I traced it to the front banjo. No fix after seal replacement. I suspect "maybe" a pinhole on the unit. BUT for the life of me I can not find any reference anywhere incl. serv manuals as to what it is and its purpose. I has no dynamic internal components and looks like it serves as a post pump pressure resevoir.

To find the leak further trace the leak in diagnostics, I am wondering if I can just bypass (strait-line) the unit , the front banjo is direct to the pressure port on the Tandum pump and the rear side couples to the banjo on the main pressure feed line, I think I can hydraulically couple them together with a custom hose and fittings, that will give me a closer look at where the leak is without this in the way. I would like to know the name and function though, it doesnt appear to be a pulsation dampner, but maybe it is, as far as I can tell if it is faulty, I need to purchase the entire hydraulic High pressure line assembly (which sounds nuts to do).

I posted this in the AMG section, but didnt get any answers, the only thing I can think of is it acts through the banjo's a flow restrictor, but it is completely a passive unit... may I buy a clue please, Thanks Mike

On some cars They added some pulsation dampeners after cars were delivered, due to complaints of humming. this may be one of the later added ones

Sounds like I might be able to bypass it at least temporarily , it will make it easier to see the leak, any idea what kind of threads they typically use? I am thinking the High pressure is coming out of the pump threads since its under high pressure... but dont know until I charge the system, I was careful to not run the pump dry, lol.

It's a pulsation damper. Comes with the line. I would need the VIN to verify, but likely just ordering part # 2203202072 would get you the line and damper together. Again, verify with VIN before purchase, there are some options. Make sure to get new seal rings as well.

You can bypass it but for the cost and effort of fabricating a new hose, plus the variable of having the rest of the line being old, I would just replace the line and damper. It's expensive, but not crazy.

Here's the best price at $318.50

http://parts.mbfm.com/showAssembly.a...sembly=6233266

It does say it includes the hose and pulsation dampener
