Need to identify engine S/N
I have a sneaky suspicion the engine in my s500 was swapped out by the shop. It had low miles and extremely clean inside and out. Now its nasty looking with lots of corrosion on the outside and where u add oil is very dirty and caked up with black gummed up oil. it wasn't like that when I dropped it off almost two weeks ago. I was taking a better look at the eng cause now its running hotter than before !!!? Will someone plz tell where to find the serial number and how to read it to make sure its the original eng. 2001 s500

Of all the pics I took of the car, I didn't take any of the engine bay. I did have the car at the dealer rt before it went into this other shop, plus I have friends that I've showed the cars engine to and they took one look and confirmed its not the same engine. I'm an aircraft mechanic as are my friends. the only reason I mentioned that is we pay close attention to detail. I sold the shop owner a car and think he swapped that engine with the other ? Does the eng serial number match the car's VIN#s
