w220 s320 CDI Facelift 2003 - Customised
w220 weight reduction results

Hi all,

I just started my DIY project to make my stock w220 320 cdi mopf more agile, economical and faster ! it weighs 1825 kilo stock.

ive removed so far:

- Front protection plastic (weighs 1.3 kilo for the radiator)
- Engine metal underplate wich protects the oilpan
- reserve wheel
- mbenz tools
- rear sofa removed underneath leather and isolation stuff. tons of debris
- Catalyst (weigs 11.5 kilograms)

I also opened the Wahler EGR adn cleaned this from sooth and black diesel debris

Guys, my 0 - 60 times before was 7.6 sec.
Not its 6.9 sec.

Upgrade ur 320 cdi v6 to v8 performance 400 cdi !
or anytoher model.

cheers

so you really believe removing about 75 kg does that?

Did you do the timing runs under exactly the same atmospheric and fuel tank level conditions conditions?

Not to be a pest here, but with the 320D engine you don't really have a hot rod, but a decent torker.

Enjoy!

Mercedes
I thought diesel doesn't have a catalyst ?

Just removing an old plugged up catalyst can improve acceleration without all those other things

Thank u. I tested it against a friend who has an c320 cdi w203 from 2007. Before the weight reduction he surpassed me in the quarter mile run. Now i ve re ran it with him and i was pulling like a train and won !

Im stunned, and hes also stunned. That does that sir. Compare it with an offload of an extra passenger who u didn't know it exists

It is my daily driver and if i would go to the extreme and part those rear seats with the interior door trims etc. i would get to the 6.5 sec. but that doesnt reward me as an s classe owner. The ride is one of the finest ive drove.

Try it out, it will work.
