Have you had any other symptoms of a problem? Is this the first time this has happened? I do not think it is the battery. My first thought is that you may have a fuel delivery problem. Bad fuel pump or clogged up filter. The ignition system appears to be okay, the car is trying to start. If this has been a problem for a while, the crankshaft position sensor is also the potential problem.
It doesn't matter what it is, this will require some time and labor to diagnose and repair.

It's good the battery is new. I am always suspicious of a problem if work was done recently. It is possible that the crankshaft sensor installed was faulty or it was not plugged in tightly. It is also possible something under the hood unrelated to the crankshaft sensor was damaged or otherwise disturbed by accident during the repair. I apologize for not having better answers, but there are a lot of possibilities as to why a car may not start and can be difficult to diagnose at home. If you are unable to diagnose the problem with basic diagnostic techniques, it may be required to take it to a shop to be scanned for fault codes.

In most cases, a dead fuel pump will give you other problems before it dies completely. A problem with the glow plug system could cause the problem you are having now. I think I should also mention that when this kind of thing happens, it is always worth checking the fuse boxes for any fuses that may have failed.

Maybe once they have scanned the car they can give you an answer. There are not any diesel W220 Mercedes in America, so not many on this site will have the needed experience to be able to help you with your specific model.

It is not unusual for Diesel fuel to contain small amounts of water from condensation. I very cold weather, the condensed water can freeze and block fuel flow. Does your car have a water separator as part of the fuel system? If so, has it been serviced?
However, I agree with tusabes - the first thing that I would check would be the glow plug system.

you are going the wrong way about it!
The glow plugs should always work on a start unless the engine is full hot.
The glow plug controller may be defective.
Bring your car to an indie garage that service taxies, they know what to do.
There are no S class diesels NA.

my car does not work when it is cold
Make a diagnosis when there sees the crankshaft or camshaft employer has dead
crankshaft and camshaft sensors are new. and now glow plugs are new to all but the problem has not changed
the car can be started within 30 minutes by running intensely
