06 S430 wipers work when they want.

Hello, I am new to this forum and also new to Mercedes Benz. I purchased my first Benz 4 days ago 06 s430. Well yesterday lights started coming on: check engine,ABS, SRS. I will fix the causes of the lights but one problem i need some direction on. My wipers will not come on when combination switch is turned on. If the switch is left on the wipers will come on eventually. I noticed that when I turn on the wipers my interior lights flickers. When they stop flickering the wipers come on. Currently, I just got home and its currently raining, my wipers were working then my interior lights started flickering, the wipers stopped in the middle of my windshield and is stuck there. Any help to point me in the right direction would be appreciated.

Thanks
Rob

Check your battery, when those go out on these cars, all sorts of weirdness takes place. Otherwise, look for a short. With the wiper switch all the way in the off position and the vehicle running, remove the wiper fuse and check the voltage with a meter. If that reads zero(and I imagine it should,) then turn the wiper switch on and check the voltage again.

Thanks Jack 88 for your reply. That's my game plan to trace to find the short. I was just hoping that someone experienced this and had a idea of where it could be coming from. I will get busy on today and post what I found

Thanks

Well After pulling up wiring diagrams, I realize that all the warning lights and Inop wipers are all governed by the left front SAM Module. I replaced it and for now it seems to have been the culprit. Will post if anything changes.

Thanks

Two sentences into your post and I thought to myself: "SAM". The rear SAM is venerable to getting wet due to a blocked drain under the hood. Make sure you keep that drain hole free of dirt or water will end up under the rear passenger seat, where the SAM is, and ruin it.

I agree with the battery suggestion. I had a 2003 S600 that when I picked it up, the SRS light was on as well as the check engine throwing a transmission speed sensor code. Wiper problems too, with the rain sensor. Replacing the battery (and resetting with STARS) cured every problem with the car. It was too low voltage and causing everything to run a muck.

Well I'm Back!!! About three days after I stated that I replaced the Left SAM module and the problems went away, The problem came back with a vengeance. The exact same things were happening(wipers inop, interior lights flickering, brake lights flickering, cig lighter inop, SRS & ESP warning in dash...etc) but this time it stayed constant to the point i could not drive it when it rained cause I could not get my wipers to work. I ended up finding a YouTube Video of a guy having the same problems with his W220. He took his to the dealer and they replaced the EIS Module. He stated that all his problems went away after that. Immediately after watching the video i went out to my car, put in the key, turned the car on and wriggled the key in the slot and wallah everything started working. So the past month when it would act up I wriggle the key and every things works so obviously the EIS was the culprit. I spent $470 for a new EIS and 200 for the blue program key. Installed New EIS and programmed with MB Star Software. After the programming was done successfully everything works great now all my symtoms went away. BUT my SRS light is on now so i went into do a quick test and found that i cant communicate with most of my modules in the car. Not with star software as well as our Autel unit. I Can communicate with the ME, ETC, ESP, ICM, ESM, Airmatic. That's it, all other modules in car i can not communicate with. Any Ideas Anyone?
