New guy, no questions just saying Hi.
Hey there!
New MB owner from Iowa, big into vehicles, but first jump into a MB. Picked up a 2004 S430 from a dealer the other day with 154k on it. I come from a land of DIY out of necessity but also enjoyment, so I hope that I can contribute in the future to some of the more higher mileage type things that myself and others may run into as these W220's start to show their age. Hopefully I won't have to tear into her too soon, if at all though! (such a beauty as is!!)
At any rate, glad to be here, and I look forward to getting insight from those with more experience!
Hope your holidays went well and much love y'all!

That's a very pretty car !!
keep two things in your glove box - a hella airmatic relay and a spare crank position sensor . Both can leave you stranded if they fail , and they're less than $20 each
also keep a rubber mallet in the trunk. If your shifter ever gets stuck in park you'll need to bang the shifter with the mallet

Gorgeous car...
How much did you pay? Does it have any warranty (like a month from the dealer?)
Prepare yourself. Mercedes DIY is not normal DIY.

After seeing some of the beauties on here, I appreciate the compliments. It cost me $4950 so about $5500 out the door all said and done As-Is. I really appreciate both the few tips and words of caution regarding these cars, the closest thing I've owned that even comes close in terms of complexity and comfort was my 96 Buick Riviera. Needless to say Ill have a light hand with her. I just couldnt believe how amazingly well kept it is. Both the paint and the interior (minus some small small trim pieces) are in great condition for a 12 yr old car. Really shows the start value of $76k when it comes to longevity it seems.
I also own a 95 Mustang, and an 01 Excursion in addition to the old Riv, so I'm not exactly a stranger to quick, or large vehicles but I was pleasantly surprised when I first test drove it by how it handled like a much smaller (sub 4k-lb) vehicle with plenty of torque and gear on tap. Oh and luscious comfort!
And now I'm rambling.
Is it obvious I'm in love?

They're a lovely thing when all is like it should be. And a great way to cover distance at speed without feeling like you have to really drive the car.
Certainly more relaxing than my old CLK55 to drive!
Congrats.
