I paid $250 for my Service C and around $580 for my Service B when I had it done, so if you haven't had either of these services done yet be prepared to spend some money. As far as being ripped off, owning a Mercedes you're going to spend some money on service charges. I looked at my receipt and sure enough it was an inspection, oil change, and a micro-filter replacement.

i know fletcher is $155 for A and $330 for B. Don't know for C.
Service ripoffs aren't exclusive to Mercedes. If you know a mechanic personally and/or are comfortable with the shop you'll save loads over the life of the car. From purchase I've done all these services @ a shop and the car is running great. Same with my Infiniti.
But you usually don't get free rentals @ shops ...

i did service B about 15k miles ago.
the dealer say b and c are about the same, he did mention replacing the micro filter (for the AC)and oil change. it sounds a lot for oil change and micro filter, i don't know whats involved in the micro filter replacement as far as cost of the filter and labor.

The filters are about $80 through MB. I purchased a german made equivalent (for $45 shipped) and installed it myself in less than 10 minutes. They are right under the dash on the passenger side.

Routine maintenance(Service A, B, C) are a good source of revenue for any car dealer. With today's cars this is mostly an oil/filter change, cabin air filter change, but mostly checking various items. Any independent shop can do it for half the Dealer price but with MB, they also check for various software updates as well.

Thanks all, my dealer (keys on van nuys in SFV) wanted 369, called the dealer asked whats included and went to a Mercedes private shop, did the same thing for $155
Oil and filter change, cabin filter, and other inspections (the brakes i just changed my self last week, so i'm good about that
Btw replacing the front pads is a kids game, the rear are a bit more complex but doable if you got an extra hour or so...saved a lot of money by some DIY!

The one unique maintenance item at 40,000 miles is replacement of transmission fluid. This is important. Request the fluid in the torque converter also be replaced.
One other item is replacing brake fluid every two years.
Replacement of the cabin filter is listed, but no real consequence if you pass on this. Wiper blades are suggested, but only replace if they appear worn or are not wiping cleanly.
Do have the service "A" items performed.

I believe it is a somewhat common issue, especially below freezing. Check the link below for more info.

Mercedes of Orlando told me service C is really the same thing as service A. I think I payed $400. I was pretty annoyed because I was told the car was inspected but and it wasn't because the coolant level was low and and I didn't even get a top off.
My car also leaks washer fluid. I was told it was a bad seal on the washer tank but i cant seem to get a price on a replacement part.

Hit this link, input your year and model....and your service schedule comes up. This shows you everything that comes with each service.

Something to remember is that service on these cars is only once per year or 10k miles. Spending $3-400/year on avg yearly maintenance, in addition to items such as brakes or other wear items isn't really that bad considering the complexity of these cars. Now once you get to the 40k service, be ready to shell out some big bucks.
