ESP on overtake. HELP!!

lately when I go to overtake a car either on a highway or freeway I get an ESP warning on my dash and it pretty much disables my foot peddle until I restart my car. so I have to pull over and restart my car. does anyone have any insides on what could be causing this? I am still under warranty. please help fellow lifers. thanks Colby.

If you still have warranty, I would use every bit of it possible.

Agree with phat, take advantage of your warranty. I had various esp issues too it drove me crazy..it would come and go..it turned out to be my axle and my sensors had to be replaced...it may be different for you...

take it to the pros and let them diagnose the problem as they are qualified to fix it.

nice their taking my car in on thrusday. thank you my fellow mb lifers. ohhh on the plus size got my tires and rims ready had to roll the back tab. but i will post pics soon.

No problem. The warranty is a life saver..it saved me well over $1000 for my esp issues. Our cars are so complex..keep us all posted on what happened so we all know what the issue is in case it were to ever hit us again.

For my case, my light came on and i kept driving it...my issue was the axle was cracked and metal shavings caused the esp warning to come on. The axle eventually broke and the car had to be towed. In the manual, it had recommended to not drive the car if that comes up. I didn't listen and my wife got stranded on the road...just be careful.

That's a sucky story man. Hope you never have a similar problem leaving you or a loved one stranded again. My wife would NEVER let me hear the end of that one, especially since my car is worth 2.5 times her stupid Lexus! But, hey, my washing machine (like her Lexus) never needs attention either...

so i finally got the results back from the dealer. it looks like i had a bad TPS. they are ordering one right now (which is on back order from germany) should be here in a couple weeks. i guess from that point we will see if the problem continues to exist.

Jadeethan, was it the fron t or the rear axle that had a problem with your unit? do you have pictures of the crack? pls post, thanks.

If not under warranty, how much would new rear axles cost? I have a 2005 model, but I am just curious.

sorry I don't have photos..it was the front..and it cost around $1200 is what the dealer said...but the bill said $0.00
