S550 Conversion to S65 AMG

Hello, I am new here, i track this amazing forum long time and got a lot of information here. after w140 and w220, finally, I bought fully loaded 2007 S550 AMG. I decided to convert it to s65 amg completely as possible. Spent around $24k for now. I have some questions about some parts; 1 - I ordered s65 mufflers for s65 sound, but im not sure if i will need other parts of exhaust system too ? I just ordered these parts 2214907721 exhaust system, muffler S65 AMG Left 2214907821 exhaust system, muffler S65 AMG Right 2 - I ordered s65 amg rotors/pads/calipers - Do i need anything else for brakes? 3 - Should i buy lowering kit or Star does it same as 30 mm ? 4 - S65 Amg License Plate bulbs are different or same with S series. ? Your car will never sound like a real S65 even with its exhaust. So save youro money and just have your exhaust customed? Licenses plate bulbs can be foun all over eBay. Just get yourself the 'error free' led bulbs.You can only go to a certain amount of drop with star. So if you want to go lower. Just get lowering links. As for the brake, I'm not sure since I have not done it yet.

how about spend it on the 4 extra cylinders you need and the 2 turbos.......

Look what i ll tell you, i hope u know that there are people living in other places outside USA. I live in country where 2012 S65 AMG price is $600k, 2007 s65 amg $230k. And What more ? Gas! Full Tank of s550 costs here 250 USD.
My car + s65 parts costs total 100k.
And No I wont put s65 badges to my s550. But If you are so caring, you can send me s65 engine, then dont worry i will buy s65 badges : )

Good luck on your project and we are all here to help you along the way to get there. I am surprised you spent 24K just for the parts you listed. That's too much. Where did you buy these and can you classify the prices for each of those?

1. As said..You will never get the same sound as a V12.
2. No.
3. Star can not lower as much as a kit.
4. Same on all models.

Where do you live? I was in the philippines on vacation and looking for MB part. You think in a 3rd world country it would be cheap but found that they were ridiculously priced for MB like at least double the price....I witnessed it myself and was shocked.

Which other parts did you order? have you got the bumpers, skirts, wheels, seats, steering wheel, dynamica rooflining etc? if yes then 24k would be reasonable i guess... I do respect this when people do it the correct way with the brakes etc. especially because ur not badging it. EVEN if you WOULD have the v12TT motor you still shouldn't badge it though.... It will never be a real one, there is a reason you have to pay 600k in your country for these monsters!

Chris, Thanks for answers , I should say that i decided this project after saw your amazing mega project. I was following your project in both benz forums. About lowering kit; i see that theres many brands carlsson lowering kits, renntech etc. I couldnt know whats best for the car for long time ? I have Airmatic on the car.

NardoNZ , I am posting the parts which i ordered for this project. I ordered them from USA and Germany mixed. I used Ebay Germany for some parts. For rest of them, USA dealers.

The list of parts;
1- S65 Body Kit
2- Front Lamps + ECUS + ILS Adapter
3- New Tail Lights
4- New Mirrors ( base, mirror housing, glass, etc )
5- AMG Steering Wheel *Full Leather - ( I dont like wood one, so i bought it new from ebay germany in very good price.
6- S65 Exhaust System
7- S65 Brakes (Rotors,pads,calipers)
8- 20" AMG IV Titanium Wheels
9- 4 x Michelin Pilot Sport 255/35/20 and 275/35/20 for rears.
10- OEM AMG Pedals
11- 4x Illuminated AMG door sills
12- AMG Floor Matts

And Yes I agree about badges. This doesnt make a car s65 but gives perfect looking to this car.
Yes maybe I spent too much but i had to buy all of them NEW. And I forgot to tell, the price includes shipping + duty/customs taxes. You can imagine how much it costs ship heavy parts from USA to Europe.

Of course, Will post up some pics in two weeks since I am waiting for all parts from USA and Germany. When done all, then i will post before & after photos here. Thanks for interest.

nice, looks like all u need is the diamond profile seats and the dynamica rooflining... they will be the biggest things at least. plenty of small things left probably lol but they wouldnt have the impact of the big parts...

Yes, I was researching about seats but no result, i cannot find them. If you have part numbers, can you share ? Whats dynamica rooflining ? I dont know it..Thanks

dynamica rooflining is black lining, dynamica is the same as alcantara, MB just doesn't deal with the brand alcantara anymore and now deals with dynamica.. same thing though. It does make a huge difference on the inside of the car... not sure on part numbers for the seats. ask a local dealer i'd say. Its probably better to give an upholsterer photos of the seats and make him look your seats like s65 ones... will save you thousands!
