08. got them both working. i was getting in the car from the passenger side and it was not powering up. i went back outside to move the cars out of the garage to wash them, and saw that when i opened the drivers door it powered on. tried on the cl also and it worked in it too.

i have a little background noise coming thru on them, but other than that they work excellent.

Ok, I received the Coolstream a few weeks ago and just got back home to give it a try.

Plugged the Coolstream to the cable. Powered it up. Got the phone to recognize the device and entered four digit code. Selected Aux on car audio. Set the bluetooth setting in Pandora and brought up a channel.

At first I heard no sound, but could hear a faint resemblence of such. So I turned the phone volume all the way up and could barely hear music. The turned the car volume wwwaaayyyy up and have a low to reasonable volume, BUT the sound quality is horrible.

So I think I'm missing a step or some other setting. It wants to play, is playing at an incredibly low volume, but the sounds is something similar to me singing into a tin can.

Anyone have a suggestion as to what I am doing wrong? I want to join the masses of happy drivers jammin to their favorite Pandora station!

Thank you!

Brian,

Why did you buy the Coolstream instead of the Musiclink ML-D100 ?

I believe others had issues with the Coolstream, but many of us ( myself included ) are using the Musiclink with great results.

Nick

Just not sure I have a good answer on that Nick! I read through the various posts and in knowing very little about either, went with the Coolstream! I will give the Musiclink a go...thank you! I don't recall reading about members having issues with the Coolstream.

Just got the ML-D100 for my 2013 S550. I paired it with my iPhone 5. But it will not work with AUX. Any thoughts.

Bernster: did you get the music link working on the 2013 s550. I could get the device to pair with my phone but when I play music nothing comes out from the speakers, the sound system keeps on saying "activating device " but is unable to do so.

I know that the music link device is good because I am able to make it work with an iPhone Dock speaker system.

Any help / info would be appreciated.

I got the identical result that you got. Works great on my iPod connector on my boat with iPhone 5. I really would like to find a workaround to pair my iPhone on Bluetooth on the 2013 S550. I did hook up my iPad 3 over cable and was able to stream but it is an awkward setup.

I am having the same same situation. I read from other forums that any car after 2008 does not work with MusicLink as mercedes does not Apple Certify their products after 2008. I'm not sure how true this is.

But in any case, Psharma, were you able to resolve you issue?? I would really want this to work in my 2010 E280. I was so excited when I read the forum but it was a real disappointment for me.

Bluetooth is great, but astounding audio quality out of the stock Harman Kardon set up requires a dedicated iPod Touch, an external Digital/Analog converter, an external 7 band EQ and a tiny Fiio headphone amp running into the car's Aux In. Add a portable 4G LTE mobile hotspot for high quality streaming. Have a listen to that set-up and you'll forget all about BT audio. Hell, you may love the sound so much you'll sometimes sneak into the garage just to listen to it.

Costs around $300 and installs without tools or soldering in your 10+ S550 glove box.

I use a dual stream Bluetooth adapter that allows you connect two Bluetooth headphones or speakers simultaneously to one device. It plugs into the 3.5 audio port so you can use it with anything.

I have a 2008 s550 ml-d100

Will the ml-d100 show songs and name on screen? Can I change songs from steering wheel? Is there certain steps I would have to do to get it working properly?

I got mine and i am sending audio from samsung galaxy s4. I have used pandora and google music app. works great

on the comand screen its blank when on the audio tab and switched to AUX. if you switch the instrument panel to audio over the steering wheel it shows "Bluetooth Clipcomm ML-D100" or something like that. you can scroll up and down if you are on a playlist in your app. for example when i'm listening to pandora its obsolete, but if i'm on my google play music app with a playlist i can go up and down through the tracks in the playlist. it does not show the song that's playing on the display.

this is my experience with it, maybe somebody can do more with an iPhone or bluetoothing from another type of device will get different results.

Exactly the same experience with iPhone. Overall the lack of visual track info is a small price to pay for having a decent quality audio streaming solution that automatically connects every time you start the car.

The post face lift cars (2010+) treat the BT adapter as if it was a connected IPod and you get fully integrated COMAND display and controls. It shows up as a media device (rather than AUX). The MusicLink adapter won't work on 2010+, although the Tune2Air player does.

If you're coming in thru AUX it's a straight audio connection. No capacity to transmit the embedded metadata tags (artist, song etc),

I usually love using BT audio in the car for all of the reasons mentioned here, but in the 221 I can't stomach the stock sound quality so I need a good bit of processing. My glovebox looks like R2D2 threw up in it, but the system does sound amazing.

Good point but how does it even send the "Musiclink ML-D100" identifier if it's just straight audio? If it can send that string makes you think they can send the track data too?

Not sure, I have a 2010 so I haven't had a chance to play with the ML product at all. Has anyone pre-2010 tried the Tune2Air adapter? That may make a difference.

I don't know if this has been mentioned but you don't need any specific bluetooth adapter for your 08 ipod connector. I'm using this one in my 08 and it works perfect. Almost every single similar device I tested works. Just make sure you turn on your engine. When your engine is off it doesn't provide power to the adapter.

I just bought this same item for my 2009 and I get no sound. Powers and pairs fine. Musiclink works perfectly. I'm confused.

I think 07-08 is different than the 09-up. I don't remember. What does your instrument cluster red when you go to it? Mine just say error but I get audio.

Cool thing is my Note II can connect to both bluetooth devices at the same time so my phone works along side with streaming an would mute my music when I get a call.
