What does the screw on the side of the door do? (Keyless go sensor issues)

My Keyless go has been giving me a hard time when I come in and out of the car. It seems the latch on the door is also where the sensor for when you open and close the door. Everytime you stop the engine and open the door, that's when all the electronics go off. However, my car hasn't been doing this, lots of times I have to remove the button and stick the key in the ignition.

There's a black plug on the side of the door by the handle that I removed and saw a star screw in there. Looks like it's for adjusting something, does anyone know what it's for?

It's for taking the door handle apart.

that's what I kind of figure. My WIS is down I can't access the info. The door latch actuator is $400 and I don't even know if that's my problem.
