Why do you want to spend all of that money on a brake conversion? Believe it or not, the stopping distance is shorter with the stock brakes on an S550 and S600 than it is in an S63 or S65.

The only way this might make sense is if you take your car to the track on a very regular basis and flog the living sh*t out of it. Otherwise you're throwing your money away just to have "cool looking" brakes.

21 E450 Wagon and 07 SL55
2012-13 S550

Guys, I know this is an old thread but I figured it would be better to add to this one instead of starting a new one.

Has anyone tried this with a 2012 -2013 S550?

The frond worked just fine but the rears seems to need a rotor with more offset (deeper) than the SL55 rotor supplies. It looks like the E55 rotor is 10.1 mm deeper so I will try that one unless someone else has tried.

Any input would be welcome.

Did you get the rear SL55 setup? Those calipers and rotors should be a direct fit. Not sure the w221 changed their setup from 07-13 as its the same chassis. I tried the E55 rear rotor with the AMG brembo 4 piston calipers and it does not fit.

You may have gotten the SL63 setup and I'm not sure about the fitment on that one although I'm guessing it should also work.

Hi Rey Acosta,
"i have a w221 s63 amg biturbo"
Did you mean s65?

Im on the same boat as you. My 2008 S63 now needs pads and rotors. I have a set of sl55 AMG 8/4 pots with all new rotors and pads.... that I'm going to test fit to see if these would direct bolt-on on W221 2008 S63.
Most would ask why down grade?
Cost effective reason and my car has reached 100k already.
Any expert outhere please chime in.
Thanks Vo

Update:
My 2008 S63 brakes are due. At 100k miles, I find myself not wanting to spend $$ On $3500-$4000 brakes job for front and Rear rotors and pads.
as I’ve stated before, I have a set of 2006 cls55 AMG 8/4 pots with brand new rotors (Zimmerman) and Akebono pads.
today, I had my s63 on the lift.
Front set bolt right on with cls55 rotors and pads % no issues
Rear calipers bolt right on BUT CLS55 rotors (same as E55 rotors) are too deep as mentioned by Bensitto above.
id Need To Get the Rear Sl55 rotors to complete the swapping project.
I will order rear SL55 rotors ASAP.
stay tune
thanks
N.T
ps... this set up cost 1/2 off S63 OEM continental brake jobs.

2002 CL500 to CL55 conversion

Today I confirmed the 216/221 amg brakes bolt onto the 215/220 with minimal effort. It’s a lot like the process for fitting the amg 220 brakes onto a non amg 220, you drill out the caliper ears very slightly to accept the larger caliper mounting bolt

like someone else mentioned, you’ll need different rotors but I don’t see how that is a problem. OBVIOUSLY you’ll need different rotors when you upgrade from a 330 to a 390 mm rotor...
