Found this one last night, after 6 months in the 221...

When parking, if you engage the brake "hold" feature (by extra-pressing the brake pedal at a stop), and turn off the ignition, the parking brake automatically engages.

This is a lifesaver, because when I first got the car I had to push three buttons to get out: ignition, park on the stalk, and parking brake. I soon learned that park engaged automagically when opening the door, so I was down to two. But now, one button!!

Other makes have the same feature but running on RF so you can do this within the same range as unlocking your car. Majority of cars have it but owners just don't know about it.

MB brought us keyless go then GM added remote start to that. MB had parktronic sensors then Toyota again made the Lexus LS460 park itself. The problem is that once MB introduces these, they don't improve on them until the next model year which will be seven years later.

Cool apps are fun to have but we have to buy a W222 to get them while Infiniti had weather apps loaded on their gps units in 2008. Come on MB, make it easy to add. I wish they could have some type of firmware update that can add feature not available at the time of production since the hardware already exist.

This is a generation of muscle cars and our engine is a very capable one. The fun to drive factor is there but why do I always find myself hitting the lower than usual speed limiter? Can you please raise it to 155 and not 130? After all these muscle cars easy go to 150 and without any mods. I'm just saying.
Yeah, good info, and I think competition makes cars better more quickly. And I like that, funny enough I have realized with other brands how you can do the "summer feature" not having to stand right in front of the door. Which I like it better.
All in all, MB cannot do it all, so other manufacturers have been pioneers as well in different areas, especially luxury manufacturers.

Really, standing anywhere outside in the heat trying to get the car to ventilate itself isn't much of a feature to begin with. Now put a MidCity Smartkey Remote starter paired with a Drone Mobil smartphone app in the car and you can cool (or heat) it from anywhere.

Add a wifi garage door opener so you can open that remotely as well.

Decided against it. Nice looking car and drove okay but I think once the novelty wore off I'd miss the S. I put a few grand into the Mercedes for the audio system and the MidCity stuff and I'm a happy camper.

Found one. If you take the sun visors out of their hinges the lights for the mirrors on the visors don't work unless you put it back in the hinge.

Great feature, but that's been the way since at least the 126. Really simple, but genius engineering.

That's because the power connection is in the retainer clip. Not sure there's actually an advantage to have the vanity lights disabled.

Yeah, there is no advantage outside of the fact that there's no reason for the light to work with the visor swung out, so why not. I dunno, but when I discovered that on my 126 ages ago I was strangely impressed.

Well, that is quite a surprise indeed after that thread.

Yeah I was ready to go on the BMW, but after the botched surgery I just wasn't up for any big decisions. The 550 comes off warranty next August and by then I'll be flush on the trade equity (which was around $8k at the time)

The favorite button on the center control knob area, *, you can assign to have the COMAND screen go BLANK. Great for night driving when you don't need the COMAND screen illuminated with the navigation map or the radio station you are listening to.

Another cool feature I didn't realize it had until the car started raising itself at the stoplight, after coming off the freeway. I guess, the car lowers itself at high speed and raises itself back to normal height below a certain speed.
