Cool Stuff I Accidentally Discovered Because I'm Too Lazy To Read The Manual
This'll probably be a work in progress because there's a ton of cool stuff on the car, and also because I'm easily amused.
"HOLD". I accidentally discovered that when the car is stopped in traffic, tapping the brake pedal again puts the car in "HOLD", meaning it won't creep, roll down a hill or do anything but sit perfectly still until you hit the gas or brake again.
"Adaptive High Beam Assist". I originally thought I was having a stroke but it turns out that with this function activated the car will drop its high beams when oncoming traffic approaches, and turn them back on when the coast is clear. Your passengers will ask if your car really just did that. Yes, it did my friend.
Also, when you tell the NAVI robot lady that you want to cancel route guidance, she asks you if you're sure you don't want directions with a little hint of skepticism, just like a real live chick!

And the nav voice sounds like a "real person".

The headrests can be manually contoured and positioned for comfort. Pull/push to move the cushion forward and back. The sides can be pulled forward to create a concave shape as well.

Cool! Will try.
Now, something else I just noticed. I really wanted heated steering wheel option, but this car didn't have it. I then read that on 2010-2013, the heated portion is only the "leather", which seems a little pointless, as I never grip there. So..
The other day I was out. Climate control was off. I could feel heat warming my hands. It felt good, and I was trying to figure out where it was coming from. It was coming right above the speedo housing! There are vents right below the leather speedo housing and warm air was coming out and warming my hands. Again, climate control was off and I have no idea how to control those vents. Anyone have any insight on that? The same vents are by the nav/command screen, and also put out warm air pretty quick after driving in cold weather with no climate control on...

Cool, interesting.
I don't know if most know this, after you open the trunk from the drivers door, you can also CLOSE the trunk from the same drivers door switch.
But, you can't close the trunk from the remote, which I wish you could.
Also, you can open and close all the windows and sunroof from the key, but it has to be pointed at the drivers door for it to work. Wonder why it's only from the drivers door. And if you have the optional power side shades, you can open and close those as well from the remote.

Yeah, that's the Summer feature, to quickly ventilate the car when it's hot. It should also start the cooling function on the driver's seat. Not sure on the 221, but on a 220, holding down the recirculation button on the HVAC controls for 5 seconds will close everything back up. Have you tried the parallel parking assist yet?

Cool. No. Parallel parking assist? Is that a standard option? Can you explain more?
And why do some cars have buttons on the dash control the angle of the nav screen? I've seen these and it's motorized and you can move it left and right?
And this see this below, from 2011. Why don't they update our command system to do this. I was in the c class forum by mistake, and their cars got this update back in 2011!

If you're looking for a space to parallel park, keep your speed below 18mph and watch the display at the top of the speedo. You'll see the two lines light up indicating Parktronic is active, and a [P] on the display. The car is scanning spaces to your right looking for one large enough. When it finds one, the [P] changes colors to a blue P and white background. Then follow the onscreen prompts to place the car perfectly in the space.
My 2010 has that motorized swivel for the display. The sales guy mentioned that the car has SplitView but I'm not sure it does.

The 07 didn't have the hold but mine came with hill-assist if it was even called that back then! Holds the brake temporarily when letting off the brake going uphill.

Now, I have splitview and it's enabled. It came with a wireless remote and headphones. The cool thing is, I can use that remote to control anything, even from the drivers side, or the back seat. I can basically control the whole car. BUT, I don't have a motorized screen. I'm starting to think models without splitview have a motorized screen, and those with it, don't. Strange.

Ok, very cool on the Parktronic. Is that something that was added in 2010+?

I'm pretty sure Parktronic was standard 2010+, but if your car has Distronic then that replaces Parktronic, although I have to believe the parking assist is still there.

You are correct on the above! I did a quick ebay search "S550 splitview", and all S550's that "have" splitview, are missing the motorized buttons:
with splitview:
without splitview:
So this is an easy way to tell if a S550 has splitview or not. If it's missing the motorized screen buttons, it doesn't have it. Learn something new every day.

There is what looks like a "volume knob" in the glove box. The manual states that this lets cool air into the glove box. You can turn it on or off by rotating this knob.
Looks like we can use out glove box as a mini refrigerator! Cool.

The parktronic is a cool feature. Night view assist is pretty cool too especially if you're like me and live in an area that has a lot of Deers.

Not so much a gimmick or anything but I love the fact that the front passenger seat can be controlled from the drivers side.

Also, can anyone tell me how the split screen works? Is it just the ability to rotate the monitor left or right?

This turned out to be one of my favorite options and also because it comes with a remote that let's you control the whole vehicle from any seat. You can even make a phone call from the wireless remote, adjust the seats, massage, radio, ac, etc..
