Becker Exhaust for W221: Pictures and thoughts
Today I went to my local Fedex office to pick up my latest present. First impressions:
Quality: The quality is decent. It feels pretty light (entire package was about 37 lbs). Compared to some of the other exhaust I've have had in the past, the quality is a worth the price but no where near the quality of my last eisenmann for my Bimmer. However, that did cost me 3x more than this exhaust. One thing that I'm not a fan of is how the tip "L" in. It makes the thickness of the tips look nice but in actuallity it is just a tip the bends inward to make the exhaust tip look thicker. I wonder if that is how the bolt on tips are.
Finish: The finish is actually pretty good. Looks really nice all the way around except for the welded edges. Seems like they could of did a better job on that but not that big of a deal.
Overall, pictures speaks volumes. I'm pretty happy about my purchase. Now, my second post will be a video on how it should. I'm just waiting on my carbon diffuser.
If there is any questions or thing you want to see on the exhaust feel free to post and I'll be more than happy to post more pics for you.

I ended up getting the carbon diffuser but the fit was horrible and sent it back. So, I ordered the oem diffuser and that should be here by Wednesday then have it installed probably Thursday or Friday. I'll post some pics and videos after that.

I got mine in the mail too. Fit and finish looks to be good. Seems that the exhaust is made by obx. If anyone recalls they started making entry level exhausts waaaay back in the day for Hondas and acuras. That's the name on the top of the warranty card anyway.
I peeked up under my 600 and looks like you cut the oem exhaust off and weld or slip joint this exhaust on with the supplied parts.
Lastly, I butted the tips up to the opening on my oem rear bumper and it seems the tips are too wide for the cutout. Not that big of a deal since my amg rear goes on Tuesday but I don't know how they can say this fits for the 550 guys...

Finally, I received my new diffuser today. I priced the diffuser at my local dealer but it was around 300 bucks per piece. I thought that was too high so I went online and found it at rock auto for about 230 shipped for everything. I've attached the part numbers below if you need to purchase these as well.
The diffuser is #2218852225
The center piece is #2218853225
If it isn't raining all day tomorrow I'll try to get it installed after work and post some pics and sound clips.

So, after receiving my parts today I got bored staring at them and decided to test fit the diffuser. First, I had to uninstall the current amg diffuser but using a pry tool while pulling the diffuser outward. I would then slowly gouge the pry tool into the clip opening and try to unhinge the clips. It was pretty easy but I did have to pull pretty hard. I would just be careful and see if you can have someone press the bumper inward as you pull outward. It should unhinge pretty easily. After that is complete, I noticed there were three metal smash pins holding a bracket that screws to the frame. I worked those out while knowing I was going to replace them with something different.
Now for the good stuff. How was the fit? It lined up perfectly as expected however I did hit a snag. The location of the clips on the s65 diffuser I received and the location of the slits those clips fit into did not line up at all. That was somewhat disappointing as I was hoping it was a easy plug and play install. However, my solution to that was I would just measure and dremel new slots for the s65 diffuser. It would be a pretty simple task to create those. Anyone that has done this conversion themselves run into this issue? I just want to make sure this is normal.
Another thing I noticed was the s65 diffuser is a bit lower than the non-s65 diffuser. I really never noticed but the diffuser and the exhaust outlet seem to sit a bit lower than my factory setup.
Either way, hopefully I'll get my exhaust installed tomorrow and began fitting my new s65 diffuser to my car. I'll definitely post some pics and sound clips for everyone to see and hear.

After doing a bit of research I think I figured out the problem. Since I have a 2007, the s63/65 diffusers were different int he 07-08 from the 10+. I ended up purchasing the 2010 s65 diffuser so that is probably is why the clips did not line up perfectly. I suppose if I were to purchase the diffuser made forr my year it would be plug in play. However, I really like the look of the 2010 diffuser so I will try to retrofit it.
The diffuser made for the 07-08 look like this
And the 2010s look like this.

So, i have good and bad news to report. I had my exhaust installed today. It was a pretty simple process and Becker provided all the things i needed to have it installed.
Impression: Looks awesome and the sounds it actually pretty quiet. you can definitely hear your exhaust now when you gas but its not obnoxious loud. I'm sure if you remove one of your resonators it would be alot louder. I'm truly happy about my purchase. I am not quite sure if it is me but the car seems a bit more spiffy but that might be me gassing it hard to hear the exhaust. I'll do a quick video tomorrow when i get a chance.
Bad news: when i test fitted the diffuser last night i didn't truly try to mount it. I just simply pulled off the old diffuser and held up the new. With that, the 2010+ s65 rear diffuser is not plug and play. It is a bit wider than the normal 2007 AMG bumper. How people had it fit the original bumper is a bit amazing. its about an inch wider and the curvature is a bit different slightly. Also, the part that is on the far ends hangs a bit lower than the original 2007 bumper. If you see the picture in my previous post, you can tell the 2010+ bumper is lower than the 2007. This was truly disappointing as i was hoping it was an easy retrofit. I'm thinking through what i could do without going too crazy. Anyone that has done this themselves? IF so, i wonder what you did for the install? IF you took it to a body shop, i'm sure they glued it.
Any feedback?
If not, i might end up just purchasing the 2007 S65 diffuser since it should be plug and play.
