COMMAND Problem
2008 S550
Before we even get into this, I am dreading the response.
History: 75k purchased the car, CD/DVD not working, faint crackling sound in the speakers, installed new BT puck (cuz there was not one) could not make the phone and system sync properly (could hear call faintly, but they could not hear you); Got used to it, NAV and Stereo work fine (kind of, pain in the *** to go from satellite channel to other options like changing to FM.):
Now the stereo and system turns on and off, on and off; there is no consistency in the time the system is playing. Once it ****s (shuts) off, it immediately turns back on from original power on. I disconnected the batteries, I held down the eject button to reset the system, no luck!
Does anyone have any ideas? (besides replacing expensive parts?)

MBWorld Fanatic!
If I had to guess I'd say it's a bad audio gateway/amp. MB diagnostic at dealer or an indie would be my first step. There should be plenty of stored fault codes that will paint the picture for you. It may of course be the HU which is pricey, although MB sells a refurb at $1400. (New is $8k)
The gateway lives in the trunk behind the liner on the left side. It's called a Harman/Becker Audio Gateway if you want to try EBay. Should be plenty used out there and not very expensive. Start with the diagnostic and post results.

Like I said, I knew the news was not pretty.
Any temporary fix?
The on and off will drive you crazy.
I can not control it or the volume!!!
