Over filled engine oil. Problems?
I chkd. the oil level. It needed oil. I added two qts., replaced the cap. Some how it didn't seat. Oil gushed through the cap, spilled on the manifold. Terrible burned oil smell. Panicked. Added back too much oil. Level shows above the top "bubble" of the dipstick. Not up on the wire part, but just above the top, oversized part. It's still there. Do I risk damaging the engine, valves, seals, whatever by this over filling or is there capacity to deal w/ this? Should I have some removed? Thanks.

It can be a problem, since that oil is under pressure and it has to go somewhere. Usually in an over fill that somewhere is pretty much everywhere you wouldn't want it to go. In addition to putting excess strain on the main seal, it can froth up and become aerated. Aerated oil isn't a lubricant and the main bearings can be starved. It can also find its way into the combustion chamber, foul the plugs, out the exhaust and into the catalytic converter, etc.
To be safe I would crawl under her and open the oil pan drain to take some of the excess out. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, have it towed but make sure it doesn't get started or run until the excess is removed.

I have a $20 Briggs and Stratton siphon pump that can easily extract any fluid from a reservoir ... I would use that and you can extract oil from the oil fill side

Yep there are several pump options (Manual and electric) that can remove the oil. I would drain it totally (e.g drain as much as would come out), and refill to spec.

My MB Dealer Service Manager tells me that do all oil changes by siphoning oil out from the top. Too much work to undo the plastic panels underneath to drain.
so siphoning from the top the easier way to go.

Yep you just need to get the tool that works for your car. I have a Mytec and it does not work on our minivan, but on the rest of the cars it does?
