facelift problems...need some info from those that did it successfully

hey guys need some help on whats needed to finish my facelift.
I have a 07 with amy sport kit. and i bought a 2010+ AMG sport kit front bumper. it was bare and missing all the inner components. i figured the inner components of my current 07 amg sport bumper could be swapped over to the 2010+ bumper without problems.

I thought, from what i gathered on here, that it would be a direct swap but was surprised to find some roadblocks.
My installer called and told me all the inner bumper absorbers and other components etc cannot be transferred from the 07 to the new 2010+ bumper. he also said the parking sensors didn't fit in the new bumper properly.

for those that did the facelift, did you have to buy new bumper absorbers and other components?

When I did an AMG body kit conversion on my W220, it was really helpful to use the online Star EPC to verify which parts carried over. You need the VIN from your car, and then the VIN from 2010 car with the AMG kit. I have a 2010 AMG so I'll PM you my VIN, as well as my login info for the electronic parts catalog (EPC)

The EPC is fairly straightforward to use. Enter the VIN (after choosing WDD from the drop down menu) and it will pull up every part number and assembly for your car. Click on each part in the exploded diagram and the part # will appear on the left side of the screen. You'll have to systematically compare part #'s between the 07 and 10 to find which parts are and aren't common. Then you'll know exactly what you need to get to finish your car.

The bumper is under Attachment Parts

Happy to help. Also, if you find you need OEM parts, www.rockauto.com sells MB OEM at a discount. I just bought an S65 2 piece diffuser from them and saved half.

ok, its looking like i would have been better off just purchasing the aftermarket kit for $2300 canadian since my cost of just facelifting the front end by gathering parts seems to be racking up fast and very close to that amour.

Thanks to Mike5215, i was able to log on to EPC and get a list of the front end composition of a 2010 s550 amg since that is what i am going for. Using Mike5215's 2010 amg sport vin, I outlined all that was valid and needed to convert to that facelift and on the other side using my 07 amg sport vin to outline the corresponding parts to see if they are same and know what could be carried over and what is additionally needed for facelift. To my surprise lots of the parts were different; at least the part numbers are. Am a little confused on that. I know over the years as new variants evolve, Mercedes sometimes changes part numbers for the same part. So i don't know ( and am hoping) thats just the case here and all i need is simply the energy absorber and support bracket and wheel wells as pst on here say they had to change.

Can someone please advise, I don't want to go buy parts i don't need for this facelift.

Yes you would..Nothing wrong at all with that kit and smae quality. Problem with OEM is that MUCH of the parts needed cant even be found in EPC. And MUCH of the parts pictured in EPC looks like something totally different than it is so you cant even guess wich one you need and so on. And almost ALL parts are different. You cant use almost any old parts. And then the prices. Just look at that rear diffuser witht the plate. So expensive and it is all included in the AM kit.

Cut your losses. Buy the kit and sell the 2010 bumper on EBay to offset some of the hit. The kit bumpers are actually S63/65 replicas and look cooler than the OEM AMG S550 bumpers anyway.

i might just do that. but am one of the few that actually prefers the oem amg sport kit to the amg kit.but am almost done gathering the parts needed anyways. I just need the two plastic "skeleton" frames that go on either side of the bumper. can't find them on ebay and not sure if that from the 07 bumper will fit it.

Looking into getting a new kit. But it seems all i am missing for the current one to suffice is just the inner bumper skeleton piece that comes with the actual bumper. can't find it anywhere. should have paid more attention when i bought the bumper off ebay...the dealer says this part comes with the actual bumper.
