I added the puddle lights underneath each side of the car mounted underneath the side skirts. They are flushmount type. I did this design idea back in 2003 and many have caught onto this idea as well as the light up door handles which BMW now uses. I have these wired up to the mirror puddle lights so you can use your remote to turn them on BUT you cannot use the power from the puddle lights to power the under car lights. You must use a relay. The puddle lights send low current signal to activate the relay and you get the power from the side end of the dash from the available power connection. The trick is to find which of the single 20 blk. wires to use. You must use a computer safe test light to make it easier or a multimeter and ground the one side. I like adding this feature to be sure the ground is clear before I drive away with the car. I have also done the light up turn signal this way too so when you use the turn signal, the side you flash, the ground lights up as well. It's for the people who are not paying attention when you use the turn signal. By the way, the pic is to defined, in actuality it's not really spotty as the pic, it floods the ground nicely. I was surprised after taking the pic how defined the circle was.

Not sure if the S65 has lights underneath unless done aftermarket? The ones I installed are very bright that I can see the entire underneath of the car. I'll post pics of the parts tomorrow. All these parts are easily attained online but since I work at a custom shop, I get all the choice picked and proven parts that I know are very reliable.

You have to be somewhat inclined but most of all confident. The only way to take things to the next level is to just do it. In the end it's always worth it. This is why I end up having unique but tastefully done mods to my cars. If we had ordinary cars nothing to talk about, we wouldn't bother to be on forums talking about these subjects. We'd only talk about problems and how to fix this and that. The led strips has to be done tastefully, you can get carried away and over do it like the new S class. I personally think it's over the top. It now looks toyish, not so luxury. It's all over the place and even in the tweeter area? that's like the neon rings around the sub kinda thing, that's when you know it's over done. The one continous line from the doors going through the dash is good enough. It was more than enough light needed.

I think those puddle lights came stock with the Lorinser body kit. They weren't built into the side skirts.

When you have time, take some more pics of the dash and lights.

I supplied those puddle lights for the side skirts for Lorinser many years ago. I attached some pics of my past MBZ cars with them. First 3 pics I had to take a picture of a picture I had at work since the original pics are in my compact flash card at home.

Yup, well in the case of this car I am a bit more careful when I do things to it. When I had my 2008 C-class, retrofitting Factory NAV was not an issue for me. Did it including even rewiring part of the existing harness so I would not have to take the dash out to install the retrofit harness. So this is probably a bit easier than that was. Once I feel a bit more confident about performing electrical upgrades, I may go ahead and do it.
