Rain water

I know on these S class cars you can have rain water get in and mess up the ac blower, and other stuff.. I have been trying to be good about cleaning my cowl area.. I can see the vent on the right side is clean, but I do see a couple leaves below the starter battery.. Someone on here said the water can get in from under the starter battery, is that the case? Bottom line is, where should I be checking to make sure this doesn't happen to me? I had a heavy rain lastnight and I noticed I have a little chirp from my AC blower when it rains or I wash the car.. well I am replacing the blower today but I don't want it to happen again.

Thanks

PS Even with the heavy rain the car inside is bone dry.. yet the blower is obviously affected..

This could be an expensive problem. How about a car cover for when weather is bad if you can't keep it garaged?

Well I just replaced the blower and I think this was just from time and age.. The rain lastnight was the worst we've had in years and it was dry as a bone in the blower, but it was rusted horribly and hard to turn, vs the new one which was easy.. plus everything around it was dry as a bone. I replaced it with a new one and all is well now.

Also FYI guys threads in this board have made it sound like the hvac blower is a horrible job, but it's just about the easiest thing you could do. 10min max. 5min max for filters. If I were you guys I would pull your blowers and put a couple drops of oil on the bearing seeing as these cars are prone to moisture in that area.

I was thinking, while it was dry inside the blower after a huge rain I would still like to know exactly where the water supposedly gets in so I can keep it clean. Does anyone know exactly where the spots to keep clean are? Is there really a spot under the starter battery? Thanks

Simply make sure cowl & L/R drains are kept clear. For your reading pleasure - 221 if VIN is 0335381 or below (as of 030660 additional sealing pads, 033539 new drain grommets put into production) http://workshop-manuals.com/mercedes...a/c_operation/ + next pages.

Thanks but what I am asking is where are the l and r drains, the little plastic drains by the hinges of the hood? What about under the starter batt. etc, thats where I was told a drain was too.
