The profile makes the *** end look huge and wheels tiny. Also, the interior is still at least 5 years behind MB.
The 3-6 series Bimmers compete well against the C & E class Benzes in features, comfort, style, and performance. But the 7 series is still eating the dust of the S.

MB’s
Is it just me or do all BMW's tend to be the same and still look the same? Design wise of course. The leather engine cover that is some serious attention to detail. However, I would still take the W222 S Class any day.

The interior in the E65/E66 was not my favorite interior in the world, but it surely attracted you inside and I think that is the problem with this new 7 and the current one, it's not inviting you in and the S-Class is. There is just something about the S-Class that the 7 Series will never have interior wise and most likely it's the atmosphere.

If you're a BMW loyalist and find yourself in need of a big sedan, that's your car. There's nothing objectionable about the design in or out really.
My only negative observation on BMWs is that the interior materials look cheap and wear badly at the price point vs the S. (So do Audis to be fair.)
I was amped about a 6 coupe and then my BMW sales guy made the mistake of emailing a listing they had for a 2013 SL. I prefer the 6's looks but in terms of driving and cabin feel it's all about the SL. Same money and the 6 vert gives you at least a stab at back seats and a real trunk but I'm not sure that's enough. I guess when a Benz loyalist needs a vert/roadster...

When you compare our W221 to its little brother, the W204, the two looked different outside and inside. I will agree that the new C-Class W205 looks a lot like a baby S-Class W222, but the new S-Class interior is so so so much more luxurious and different than the C-Class (W205) interior. This BMW's interior didn't push any limits and I agree with Mike that BMW interiors always felt cheaper to me, especially the switch gear (i.e. window, door lock, etc.).

It's mostly the materials inside that seem down-market to me, The base Dakota leather feels like cardboard, the carpets are thin and get shabby quickly. I always look at used examples even when I'm buying new or leading. The Bimmers show wear. An S Class on the other hand is very forgiving in terms of upkeep and with just some basic regular attention can still look new at 100k miles.

Even if the new BMW 7 series came with Warp Drive and a hot Yeoman I wouldn't buy one. They are over rated oil burning pieces of CR_P.

If BMW stands for "the ultimate driving machine" why are they making a car that's more of a robot then focusing on ways to make the driving experience more enjoyable for the consumer? I mean yeah some of the tech is cool, but I am getting the feeling that this 7 Series and most new cars including the W222 S-Class are sorta trying to make you feel less in control. Probably that's what AMG and M are for.

Yea, I hear what you mean. Reminds me of the Nissan GTR. That thing is wicked fast, but many reviewers have always said it has no soul. I agree.
