This has been a very entertaining thread. Congrats to the OP on his new purchase. You should feel good about the buy and I hope that the care delivers all you expect. I recently joined the S class club and love the car. Three months ago I bought an '11 S550, CPO with three years of warranty 40k service completed, new brakes & tires and a few other extras and have no regrets. It is truly an amazing car.
None of this dialog had told me that a 600 or 63 is out of reach for me. None of this dialog has encouraged me go go beyond a 550 either. For me, a quicker faster car, would cost me more in legal fees than repair costs.

Even worse, my lesser car coat $18,000 more than yours. I could have just gotten a 7 year old S600 and then spent another twenty grand on a new Civic to drive when the 600 is in the shop.
What do S600 owners call their spare car?
"Daily Driver"
Get it?!

How can you let the S Class sit and drive the Q7 instead? That's some will power, man. We have a new Q7 and the only time I can bring myself to take it anywhere vs the S is when I have to haul something that won't fit in the S, and trust me, I've gotten really good at getting stuff to fit in the S.

~$3500 US. If you have the through holding/Ski Bag option already, then all you need is the fridge - ~$2800 US.

My stainless steel 28 cubic ft Samsung fridge with French doors, bottom freezer, built-in ice-maker, and purified water cost a lot less than that fridge. Seems silly to me to spend that kind of money on something that only holds a few cans, only works when the car is running, and is well out of reach of the driver.

Question re CPO. AFAIK, CPO is one additional year (from the factory 4 year) for a total of five years from the original in-service date. CPO now offers unlimited mileage coverage. One can also purchase the "Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned Extended Limited Warranty". It is an additional 12 to 24 months of warranty coverage (from the expiration of the M-B CPO warranty, within 100,000 total vehicle-accumulated miles).
For an S550, I think it retails for $4k. Question is, *when* can one buy this warranty? Any time during the CPO period? Any time before 100K miles? Is the unused/prorated portion refundable to the purchaser?
Thanks.

Dave's not a fan of CPO because of the cost. Instead he got a million-mile one-hundred-year service contract by Warranties-R-Us for .25 cents out of a vending machine in the lobby of a WalMart.
If the car was sold as CPO, it includes 12 additional months of factory warranty that start immediately if the car has no existing original warranty in effect. Otherwise the 12 months start when the original expires. At purchase you can buy an additional year for $2300 or so, or two additional years for $4500. I believe you can add additional years of CPO at any point when the car is covered under a current CPO policy. CPO is transferable, or they will refund any unused portion. The max CPO is always 3 years total regardless of when you buy it.
You cannot buy a used MB that's not CPO and then go back and buy the coverage.

Additionally, the money I save on lower maintenance costs vs a s600, I could afford the dealer price

The fridge works for long trips too. Regardless of limo or not if you want to have access to chilled drinks or food in the car without having to stop, it works very well.

2007 S600, 2007 Chrysler 300 SRT8, 2000 C5 Corvette, and 2017 Mustang GT, and just got a 2023 300C
I have had my 2007 S600 with 55K miles for about 16 months. It has been simply fabulous to drive especially on several long trips to FL in excess of 1000 miles each way. It is finicky about only top quality high octane fuel but gives me 22 mpg at 65 mph on cruise control. Smooth and powerful like the proverbial locomotive. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. Prefer low mileage examples but well maintained is more important. Next one will be an S65.

One of the things I really love is that, unlike my F150, there's really not much penalty for going faster. At 80 I still get about 21 MPG, which I can live with. I'll be driving on the Interstate for a couple of hours this afternoon, and I'm actually looking forward to it.
