Electronis noise?
Hey guys.. I have ears like a dog! I can hear every high frequency or buzz in everything and once I notice them they drive me nuts until I can get used to them and forget about it.. Well yesterday I noticed a very faint noise coming from the gauges/command. Just like a regular very faint electronic noise.. most people would probably never notice it, but I was just curious if anyone else ever has, and if you haven't I ask that the next time you go sit in your car with the windows up and radio down listen to the cluster area and see if you can hear what I'm saying.. thinking I need to stick my head in font of a couple speakers or start going to more concerts

Lol I know... I laugh now but I have near incredible hearing.. I actually hear earthquakes moments before the occur.. I hear all kinds of high pitched noises from everything and it's hard to get them out of my head.. I can roll down the windows and turn up the radio and they still cut right thru.. I just have to get used to it I guess.. it's always been a hassle.. I was thinking I bet the new S is alot better, looks like they use tablets almost in the dash

Yup , its a racket with the radio off ,all kinds of noises to get used to in this car.
When starting up a dozen actuators start moving: buzzing and clicking.
The weirdest is the scraping sound when putting car into neutral,I have this since I bought three years ago..seems to be normal, other members here have this too.
The most interesting one ,is when I use distronic-plus: it 'screems' away when used on the motorway and at stoplights.
As soon as the radar detects something ,its audible and just after that the car reacts with braking or accellerating .

I've noticed this noise is from the Command screen. If I go into the settings and turn off display it goes away. Can someone please go into their car turn it on but turn radio down and see if they hear any noise from the Command ? Mine was worked on by dealer wondering if it's not normal if I should try to bring it back.. thanks guys

cmpcpro - I hear the same thing...I fooled around trying to find it a couple years ago, but don't remember what I ended up thinking... seems like I narrowed it to the defused vs focused air flow setting on heater or air conditioning affected it, but again... its been a couple years...I ignore it now.

Can anyone help me out here? I am thinking this is possibly a problem.. Can someone sit in their car with the radio off and see if they hear a noise coming from the Command screen then select system and turn off display and see if it goes away? Thanks!

With no radio on and sitting in the car, I hear buzzes and clicks when the system turns things on and off, but nothing unexpected based on what I am reading in the manual and what you can see with a XENTRY/DAS terminal. Same thing for my other cars from other manufacturers. does not seem strange to me, but then again I have watched what the cars are doing with technical PCs attached, so...etc

I am hearing a light buzzing noise coming from the Command screen at all times it's on. If you go in your car and turn the radio off and put your ear by the Command do you hear it making any noise? If you go into System and the bottom right corner turn off display, it goes away. If you don't hear anything I am thinking maybe my screen is going, and thats $900.. Hoping its normal, but either way, it does bug me..

Most people probably wont.. I have very good hearing.. I hear it all the time, but I'm asking if you guys can hear it with the radio muted or turned all the way down. All you have to do is sit in the car turn the radio down and put your head near the Command screen, listen for that electronic buzzing then go to the system page and in bottom right select turn off display and see if it goes away.. You guys would make my day if you could try and let me know if it's normal or not. If it is it will be easier for me to get over it and if it's not then I'll spend the money to replace it.. Thanks guys.

cmpcpro, I used to be like you, but as I've gotten older my hearing of high pitched noises has diminished quit a bit. The one place that used to drive me crazy was the jewelry counters at high end department stores. They had some kind of alarm systems that emitted this high pitched frequency.

So i gave it a try but i don't hear any buzzing at all. I tried with the radio turned down all the way and then again with the display turned off. No difference. But I am 53 and I listened to a lot of loud music in the 70's and 80's so not sure I would have heard it. Actually i still listen loud. I love my big blue McIntosh meters !!!

Thanks! My mom is in her 50s and could barely hear it but my brother and sister both heard it.. I think someone younger will hopefully feel like trying, but thank you very much for taking the time to try! Curious though did you hear your cluster or anything? They all make their own noises

Sorry, I really didn't hear anything other than the engine. I was just sitting in my garage so I couldn't run it too long. And there is another small blizzard going on so i didn't want to go out there.

No no, I thank you for taking the time to try. I know the cluster makes a slight noise too so I was just wondering if you heard that, but if not then I think maybe you are right and your ears just can't hear the noise, but I appreciate you trying.. I'm always the one doing things like this to help people and it seems like nobody ever has the time to help me, so I thank you again.
