I've only been reading this thread because it has enough traffic to be on the home page, but this nearly made me spit my wine on the screen.


And I totally agree about forums going down hill as the cars get older. W209 CLKs date back to 2002 and 6-cylinder coupes scan be had for well under $10,000, and I see posts like "yeah, that one is nicer, but my bank will only finance a car up to 10 years old." And I'm thinking "your financial situation is such that you have to finance $10,000 and you are buying a Mercedes!?!?"

Whoa! Let's get something straight here. Offering a hug to somebody who's down in the dumps about his car problems is not gay. It's called being a good friend and offering support. Mike has totally misconstrued my friendship with him as being gay. It's a truly platonic friendship, nothing else. It really was a roll of silver dollars in my pocket, the hug actually happened from the front, and there was no jackrabbit gyrations or whatever he called it. And the mayo packet was a left over from the chicken sandwich I had earlier in the day, and it never exploded as he would lead you to believe. I have a feeling he was recalling his previous nights dream, which would happen to be a nightmare for me.

Mike is likely confusing me with Atc, who I've heard has a reputation for hiding out in dark and seedy places...with his favorite watering hole being a place called "The Man Hole". He may say that he only hangs out there for the world renowned chicken wings and beer, but I have a feeling that there's more to this story. Stones and glass houses here people.

This thread has shown me that the newer S550's must be purchased going through the MERCEDES BENZ CERTIFIED PRE OWNED network. In which I intend to follow when my time comes for purchasing. Or, you should have loads of money to poor into the vehicle when you have any issues thus understanding that it's required maintenance.
