Any comments on this product. I bid on it, but is it a smart buy used? Honest seller? Should I expect any trouble or request a seller guarantee?

COMMENTS PLEASE!!!

That's way too much. It's 3 years old, electronic, and no warranty. I can get you that brand new for less.

Depends on the weather
I got my vim for like 150.00 or something close brand new and took about 10 minutes to install...DO NOT pay 600.00.

Remember, the price escalates very quickly if you add read camera option to the VIM. if its just VIM and no camera option to the vim it's much less. Mid city does programming if you want to add a rear camera or turn the factory rear camera on while driving.

"The VIM221P comes with the additional benefit of being a for the rear seat entertainment system, navigation system, music register and backup camera on 2010 to current CL and S-Class Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Models from 2007 to 2009 can still program the backup camera. These features are usually only accessible with a dealer tool."

I also have other brands that are less, but they don't have rca inputs to add front or rear cameras. I like midcity because they do all their stuff in house and can get pretty custom.

If it ever warms the heck up I'm going to tackle my front cam project. I can't stand this -3 degree weather!

none
This seems like something I would like. But not with that price.

I went to get a part for my wife's ML a while ago at my local dealership and decided to ask the service department if I can get a telematic update. They said no and told me they would only update the Navigation or reprogram something

He bids on my item. the new Midcity VIM runs $400 VIM221 or $700 for VIM221P (camera programmer). I'm not trying to rip anybody off and I think that $400-450 is a fair sale for $700 item.

I don't really know about alternate solutions. Prior to purchasing mine I was waiting for year to pickup a used one, and no one was selling, so good luck finding vim221P.

The reason I pulled in off because I traded 08 for 12. I'm just being a bit lazy to find time and put in my 12.

Once I get my Fridge in, I gotta talk to Jason again about some VIM configurations. I really want a front camera (either visible light or FLIR, or both). I have the OEM rear. My Fridge languishing in Customs put the brakes on going down that path temporarily. you what would be nice, though a camera that can zoom, and capture pics and video - seems one could install one of those and just run the output into the RCAs.

@ Nuru.....Yes, I want a front camera as well, possibly grill mounted. There are a few on ebay and some have reasonable night view, all RCA mounted.

I will retrofit the 3xRCA adaptor in the glove box first and my Video Aux is enabled from the dealer. Anyone done that before or have part numbers, as I assume its just the adaptor plate, RCA adaptor and wiring harness into the Comand ?

Do you know if there is anyway that we can display a video signal e.g. from camera (or other) on the centre of the instrument cluster similar to AMG logo on start up or Night Vision Camera when activated ?

I'm sure there is a way but maybe no one has attempted yet or someone has and just isn't on these forums.

I've been researching this also. I have seen pictures of S600's with the V12 logo when they unlock the car but mine doesn't do it.
