The longest road trip???
Hey everyone. I was wondering what is the longest road trip that any of you have taken in your S550? Where there any issues you can share? What impressed you most about the operation of the S class? Please share. Thanks.

I drove my 09 about 2,000 miles on a road trip, besides getting her dirty, I had no issues, it was an excellent ride, cruise control, massage seats, air ventilated seats, comfort suspension, nice music and just drive

My longest road trip so far was about a 50 mile round trip. It hasn't seen an Interstate yet since I've owned it. But I have put over 1600 miles on the car in the 3+ months I've owned it, so that must count for something. So far it's driven like a dream and my 12 mpg average is sweet!

Trip to Boston-420 miles-sheer comfort, smooth ride/handling made trip super pleasurable/slow and vigorous massage on. 70 mph with a/c on getting 25-26 mpg! Plus the appreciating looks from other travelers in LS's, 7 series, etc.

i buy these s-class cars specifically for inclement weather (4matic) and long-haul travel as i have another car for around town sporty driving. the s-class is pure heaven on the motorways. i regularly drive chicago to pittsburgh and back again (1,000mi rt) and twice a year to my place in florida (2200mi rt) and nothing beats this ride. like it was designed specifically for the motorway comfort. love love love this thing! the best mpg i have seen in my <2yr ownership of this particular s-class (i typically trade every two years) was around 30mpg. i don't look anymore to be honest; i don't care what it cost to run this thing. it is *that* good!

This is one of the reasons why I originally asked the question. My daughter lives near Orlando, FL and I'm in PA so I know once I finally get one that I would love to make that road trip. I drove my 420 SEL to GA once and that performed great with no issues, in fact the car ran better and better the more highway miles it took on. So I can only imagine with the newer S550 technology that thing must be a real beast on the highway. Thanks for sharing.

Just food for thought, this car seems to get better mileage than the 2015. Just read a post on the w222 forum where a guy traded his 2010 and it doesn't do as well.

From NJ to Fl I left with 3/4 tank.....filled up twice and arrived in Central FLA with more than 1/2 tank. (With the 5.5L V8). Not to mention I felt fine when I got home (not tired) as I stayed up and watched Sunday Night Football and I still went to work @ 5am the next morning. I left about 6:30am and by 7:30pm I was home after stopping to pick up dinner).
My daily commute to work is 32 miles each way.....with the first 18-20 miles being non-stop (no stop lights) and I usually get about 22-23mpg to and from work. (The computer is automatically reset when I leave for work/leave work heading home.)

I don't have any long drives, but in my daily driving I usually get 2-3 MPG above whatever EPA says is the City MPG. I never had any MPG issues with the other 5 MBs. Now I have a 2015 S-550 RWD, EPA City MPG is 17, I get about 14-15, when I expected 18-19. Part reason could be that the ECO/Start/Stop system seldom works, but that is "normal" according to MB. On my 2010 S-400HV, the S/S system always worked, and my MPG was 21-22 or 2-3 MPG above EPA City of 19.

I need to use my car more often. I've had it for over 8 months now and have only put 6000 kilometers on it. I only use it on weekends as I commute in to work on the train. Longest road trip I've taken it on was probably 50 km one way.

Hi Guys
We drove 1800 kms from Melbourne Australia to South East Queensland each winter for our winter break and then 1800 kms home in the spring..freeway about 70% of the way otherwise fast country roads...3600kms in all and NEVER a hitch with my old 2011 W221 350 Diesel..except the day it caught fire in engine bay..but that was not the car ...just slack maintenance...Now do the same trip in my new 2014 W222 ...unbelievably smooth and almost boring....watching out for kangaroos keeps us on our toes though!!!
have a nice day

We just took a trip to Louisiana two days ago. Round trip was roughly 1400 miles and averaged 26.2mpg on the interstate. I was amazed because this is the first car that I was not fatigued after driving several hours straight. Like someone else had mentioned, the car got a little dirty along the way but was easily solved with a wash. The only real issue I have is the regret for not purchasing an S class before now.
