ACCIDENT!! Someone hit me!
So, someone hit the back of my car and put a little white spot on my rear bumper smaller than the size of a dime. What the heck! I am pissed! It's not the end of the world though as it's so minor. He admitted fault, his insurance company called me and say they take full responsibility, will provide me with a rental etc.
Their adjuster says the whole bumper needs to be replaced due to the class of the S550 and they won't just paint that little white spot even though it's under the size of a dime? It came from his license plate and that was it.
So....does it make the most sense to just go ahead and get Gary's full facelift kit now since I don't have to pay for it ??

If you were going to go with the face-lift kit, this would be the time to do it. Get the estimate, have the check paid to you, and update away. You can probably buy the full body kit from Gary including new grille & exhaust tips, and have it painted and installed for cheaper than the cost of the new rear Benz bumper, paint & labor.

I already got the estimate from the adjuster and they cut me my first check - which I think is freaking crazy for the amount they gave me...that's why I was saying I can buy the kit cheaper than it cost to just buy the bumper according to the adjuster estimate. She definitely seemed like she knew cars and she said they won't be able to put me in an S550 rental but she'll make sure it's something as close as possible. I was really amazed. I was expecting the adjuster to try to go extremely cheap...honestly - I could have just got some touch up paint and did it.
She said if anything the shop needs any other materials etc. not covered by the amount to have them do a quote and send it to her and she will cut me another check.

The only reason I started it is because I couldnt believe they want to replace the bumper for this and opinions on getting the facelift kit now which I was thinking about recently vs buying another car.

I'm very grateful. I was hit as traffic slowed down and he had to be going at least 55mph because I was doing 65 and slowed down to at least 50. I think he was on his phone or not paying attention - it was one or the other. He immediately called his insurance on the scene and told them he was at fault.
It also goes to show that these cars are really built well for safety. I think of all of the other cars I see get hit from behind and have the bumpers fly off or get crushed....the W221 just has a smaller than dime size scrape.
