I am about to buy a 2013 S550 with full drivers assistance package, but I cannot find if it comes with park assist?
Is that "self park" feature?

Is there a place where it can be looked up?

W221 didnt have self park. It came on the W222. If you have distronic plus you sure have PDC as standard.

2010+ all come with "park assist". A little screen comes on the dash telling you how to back into a space if there is room. I wish we had a video to show others.

I have a 2008 S550 now, and it has solid lines when rear view monitor is on, however these lines do not move (bend) when steering wheel is moved. is this what I new Park assist do? or is it the same?

The lines on my 2007 turn with the car and show you the direction the car is going just like the 2010+. I'm surprised this would not be the same on your 2008.

its really weird, the lines are just straight, they do not move. is there something I should enable? in the settings?

Perhaps your car just needs the COMAND update. If you don't have the "Birds Eye" option for your nav, then you don't have the update.

I have a 2012 S550 and the lines on the back up camera does not move. However it does see parking spaces and will help me park when needed. I have the full drivers assistance package and I do have the latest command update with birds eye view.

Correct, no backup cam for any w221 has moving lines. Sad, since every model benz years ago had this. Mercedes tends to make a car with great technology, then lets it's sit until the next model comes out before they really do anything with updates.

Interesting... Looking at the bottom of the COMAND display, are those two functions (looks like parallel parking and space parking?) selectable? If yes, what do they do?

It changes the types of lines. Parallel parking marks out the parking spot you want to attempt to park in. Not nearly as good as self parking, but a viable alternative when you need to turn the wheel yourself.

Here is the parallel parking image with the wheels straight. The blue posts are supposed to be aligned with the back of the car you will be parking behind.





Here is the image with the wheel cranked. As you can see, it shows where you intend to park the car. If the back of the line is touching the car ahead of it, then there is not enough space to park.

andrewk-S550, you probably want to have the dealer provide you with the datacard for the car and then you will see all the options.

as far as I know only 2007 cars had this option, but it can be retrofitted, you will need driver ASST CAMERA MODULE , part numberA2218708326 and some programming on star

This is blowing my mind. Why in the world would this feature only be on 2007's. Can someone please answer me that question?

I think this option was like $2k alone at that time and nobody was buying it. Now my came up with cheaper solution and its standard on new E, ML, GL's

I downloaded all the W221 owner's manuals. The "dynamic rear view camera" was mentioned in the 2007 and 2008 models, and disappeared as of 2009. Go figure.

Doesn't make sense at all. Infiniti has had this since 2007. Wonder for those that have the cam if all that's wedged is star tool.
