NEED HELP with P0653 Code
I have a 2007 S550 which is going into limp mode, just wondering if anyone has experienced this before? I am leaning towards just changing the voltage regulator in the alternator, but wanted to see if anyone has had this problem. Also, I heard there is a special screen we can get to to see what the actual power reading is on the dash, anyone know how to get to that?

This code refers to the 5v TTL reference voltage. All ecu decisions are made based on that reference voltage.
The voltage supplied by the battery/ alternator has little to do with the TTL ref voltage as this one is "created" in the ecu.
Your car needs to be read as there will be more codes stored that might point to the real culprit.

what equipment are you testing for code with ?
these cars have multiple systems and basic ODB2 tools only have a rough and ready chat with engine emission control and this in itself will not help anybody
if the gearbox is messing about (because its falling to bits as they do) will likely cause the engine to reign back power to get you home....
I'd plug in dealer quality full diagnostics - lots of aftermarket kit can now do this but is $200 dollar stuff not internet app trash - wipe the lot drive for 10 mins and look at real issues across the entire car

you probably have a broken gearbox - autel tends to give exactly the same fault code data as Merc dealer tools - does yours do gearbox diagnostics? - which model autel?
