Day nursing staff was terrific. Night...hit or miss and when you're completely dependent it makes a difference. It's a nice, private hospital. We also have UF Shands here as well. It's crazy how much medical stuff is in this little college town. Are you in the medical field?

Being in the medical field I realize that surgeons, like us, put their pants on one leg at a time and are not perfect. Everyone has a bad day.
The major advice I have for you Mike, is, bottom line you and you only are responsible for your health. Yeah, the wagons do get circled. I've seen one doctor misrepresent to cover another doctor's a**.
Personally I'm going through a similar scenario with 2 groups of doctors each pushing a different diagnosis. From my perspective each doctor group is treating the symptoms rather than searching for the root cause. I've been on substantial doses of morphine to manage the pain while all the appropriate test are being done. This has been going on for about 2 months. I was a good patient for about 4 weeks and then slapped myself up the side of the head and said I will manage this scenario, for right or wrong. Because of this decision I will have the last of the necessary tests performed on Wednesday, the dreaded nerve conductivity (EMG) test. Oh goody I can hardly wait.
If after Wednesday we still have not determined the cause I will then start the political B.S. and start going up the ladder until I get to the person that can make the proper decision and hopefully get to the bottom of my case. Thankfully we have a personal relationship with one the department heads at the hospital who is more than willing to kick *** for a resolution.
I'm bring all this into the conversation to urge you to push for any test you believe to be worthwhile. The fact that your GP thinks the other doctors are good guys and dedicated doctors has absolutely nothing to do with your situation. This is not a popularity contest. This is your quality of life that they are playing with. Bottom line -"Time to kick ***". IMHO

Well, much to the chagrin of my attorney buddies things are slowly improving as the docs predicted/hoped. As long as there's progress I'll let things continue to (slowly) heal and reassess at the 3 month/6 month/year mark. Cathing is a nuisance and it would be nice if i could feel all of my genitals but there's definitely progress there as well. WTF happened to you? Nerve stuff has to be the toughest to diagnose and recover from. It seems like there's not a lot of options for medical intervention, more focus on symptom management and a lot of wishing on both sides. Nerves seem to get insulted for no reason and recover on their own timetable. What are your symptoms?

Severe pain in right groin, left portion of right thigh, knee and left portion of right calf. Dull ache in right hip joint. 9 MG morphine before bed and 4 MG morphine in morning (tough out the pain during the day by staying active). Over the last 4 weeks I've had:
: Ultrasound femoral artery and corotid artery (both on right side)
: Right hip Xray (showed hip as normal but DR says they misread Xray)
: MRI head and neck (found lesions on frontal lobe of brain)
: CAT scan of head and neck (to follow up on the MRI lesion discovery)
I'm scheduled for an EMG (nerve conductance) on Wednesday
I'm awaiting an MRI on the right hip.
Being in Canada all of these tests are free however certain test require a protracted waiting period.

Lesions on the brain would scare the crap out of me. My cousin has lesions on the brain and it turns out he's dealing and living with MS. I hope to God that your diagnosis turns out to be much better.

L2, 3 and 4 would be my guess. As far as the lesions on the brain, I'm 72 years old. I've had a great life. The purpose of all the testing is to determine a cure, if possible. If a cure is not possible then what will be the quality of life ongoing.
I'm no hero but if I've only got a short time left, there are some things I need to accomplish before I go.

L2/3/4 pain can be disc related (herniated disc crowding the nerve root against the vertebra). Gotta get that MRI!
Are the lesions symptomatic in any way? They're not attributing the leg pain to them or are they? Friggin' Canada. Here they get you in the same week. They charge you $103,000 and kill your boner but they get you in.

You're being a little short-sighted Mike. Debbie Gibson is much better looking and I heard she puts out. Smaller ***** than Tiffany....but still worth a shot in my book.

Yeah but Tiffany was skankier. That's just how I happen to like my 80s pop mall singers. Although in deference to Mr. Bobby's homeland I will add Robin Sparkles.

Ouch, sounds like a nightmare, get well soon bro.
I blew out a disk at 20 years old, (17mm @ T-12/L-1) and i needed emergency surgery. Due to malpractice, I was completely paralyzed from my waist down after the injury so I know how you feel...10 years later i'm 30 years old, i spent 5 years of my life on a wheelchair and now i walk with a walker with desensitized body parts and nerve damage that prevents motor functions...but hey...i'm walking and CAN drive(most important part).
Stay active and keep moving Mike, you'll be up and running. 99% of docs don't give a fk about anyone but themselves (sorry to offend anyone but its true) so be your own doc, document progress and setbacks and most importantly, don't get lazy.
Good luck
