Question on headlamp bulb
I did a search and did not find anything; sorry if I missed it.
My 2007 s550 has a "low beam - right" message, and "night view assist inoperative message". I am assuming the night view is related to the passenger side bulb not working.
My question is: how expensive is it to get the bulb replaced? Should I take it to an indie or am I better off taking it to the dealer?
Thanks for any input.

Pretty unusual - 74 views and no responses.
In any case, I called the dealership yesterday, and after being on hold while the person answering the phone checked with the service advisor, I was told it would be $12 to $14 for the bulb, and they would not charge me for labor. It would be $127 to diagnose the night view problem. I made an appointment for the bulb replacement, and said I would wait on the night view issue (I was pretty sure it was related to the bulb). I was little skeptical about the price of the bulb, but who was I to argue?
Brought the car in this morning. SA comes out after a while, and says the bulb is a xenon and is $248, and labor is another $140. After arguing about wasting my time with a bad quote, I am told by the Service Manager that the mistake was caused because they did not know which bulb was used on my car - apparently "it is like tires"! I questioned if there is any S class with a $12 low beam bulb, and he says "yes". Eventually I agree to replace the bulb and they waived the labor.
I would probably have been wiser to leave and take it to my indie and use an after market bulb. By the way, the dealership is MB of S. Charlotte, and the Service Manager with the bulb pricing was Jim Willard.
