Finally Came To A Decision On A Car
After several months of searching for a car to replace the S, I've finally settled on a choice. I loved the BMW 6 series, but in the end the less than premium interior materials killed the deal. I tried going retro with an 07 SL. Too primitive. Jaguar XK was sexy but the tech looked like it came from an Atari. Oh yeah, and it's a Jaguar. New SL550, very nice little car but too much little and not enough car for the money. Hated the stereo, too.
Then I realized that the thing that was killing all of the deals were the comparisons to my current S Class. It rides great, it looks great, and I already own the f'ing thing. So, I'm out of the car market at least until August 2016 when the CPO ends.
Meanwhile, I'm treating myself and the S to a major audio upgrade next week. A full write up to follow (of course).
Because I mean who would want to be stuck driving this old beater

One day I will be riding in style and grace just like that my friend. I love the big car ride too many mid-sized pieces of crap rolling around today. Keep us posted on the audio upgrade! Take care!

Yeah, I always forget how not even Mercedes can make a mid size that rides like the S. The audio stuff is pricy for a car I'll only have for another year, but it's also removable and will fit perfectly in the car I really want when the time comes: a 2012+ CL.

Great choice.
I have to be honest though. I went and looked at a Bentley GT recently. I am pretty sure that is going to be my next car. I am keeping the S600 though even if I do get it down the road because it's a beautiful work of art! I love this car! People ask me about it literally just about every single day.

What a beautiful piece of art. Nothing else matches the S class Mercedes. I'm also looking and will pull the trigger for the right car.

I am just glad to see that you'll be sticking around this Forum a little longer. This place wouldn't be nearly the fun without you.
Before the S, I was looking at a Jaguar XJL. That was until I saw the [very lack of] tech. As always, loved the wood and leather, but it was not enough to make up for the lack of toys.

Great choice Mike. You have always been very informative on this site so I'm sure you will make a great choice in the future and I'll be changing around that time or early 2017. I'm thinking something a bit sportier yet I don't want to go back to the BMW so I'll probably be in the market for the CLS.

Love the look of the CLS, and a nice car on the road as well, but I can't get past the E Class bits and the inside seems cramped. Again, against an S even very nice cars by Mercedes don't quite cut it for me. The audio stuff I'm about to do will transfer over directly to a CL and the TTV8 2012 cars will have dropped into my target price range by this time next year, so it'll probably be a CPO CL 550...

Thanks, she is somewhat sinister except for all the chrome bits. I love the quad tips and the little spoiler as well. Go for it!

I like the rear spoiler... also did you delete the star on the hood with the emblem. I might do that on mine. When i had my w211 it made it look alittle more aggressive/sporty

Yeah a guy on here sells the little button that replaced the star. Mine is black with a little AMG logo but I got it because it was black. Also did the orange side marker lamps in smoke so they blend, and then shot the lower bumper grilles in a metallic charcoal to give them some contrast.
