I agree with you on the driving the car hard is unnecessary but the majority of these repairs were needed regardless of my driving habits....the only repairs I would say resulted in hard driving is the motor mount i recently changed and probably brakes and tires a little sooner than usual...and of course the tranny issue might be related

I mean...they didn't throw a beast of an engine in the S550 to leave it in comfort mode and cruise around like you're driving granny around.

I always say, if i'm paying for it..i'm going to use and abuse it.

The S550 has a "beast of an engine?" Compared to a Prius, I'd absolutely agree with you. Compared to anything else in its class, I'd say it's just average.

Well, I'm comparing it to my 08 750li I had for 3 years...and yes, the S550 is far more superior in power than the 750. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

The 2008 750i had almost identical performance compared to the 2008 S550. 0-60 times around 5.3 seconds and ET in the upper 13's.

You see, I have the biturbo 4.6L, and that really pushes power.

Really? Maybe I had bogged down version of the 750...even w/o my 22's the 750 felt way underpowered compared to the s550...oh well.

Love the NA engines though

Everybody loves NA motors....until they give a V12 bi-turbo motor a whirl.

My favorite NA motor was the 5.0 V10 in my M5. That engine was a real screamer and had an awesome sound.

Man, I had a clean e60 M5 after I sold my 750Li...WOW. One of the funnest cars I've owned...and possibly driven.

That V10 is an animal at 8k RPM!...unfortunately someone decided to t-bone me at a intersection about 4 months after I bought it

I wouldn't mind a v12 bi-turbo

Yes, animal is a good word to describe it. Raw would be another. That car was absolutely built for the track with that SMG tranny and high strung motor. That sweet spot from 6k to 8300 rpms was addictive. Unfortunately that car sucked to drive in heavy traffic or around town. Clutches and rod bearings seem to be the Achilles heals of those cars. I just sold my 2006 with 46k miles in November and miss it on really nice days. But the rush of the V12 TT aint so bad though.

Its not the engine that keeps me from "spirited" driving in my NA 550, it's the Airmatic. Great for a comfortable ride and more responsive than passive struts on a car that size ( I'm talking to you, LS460) but she pitches and rolls too much when pushed. 20's and spacers help. An ABC car would better suit.

Now can we PLEASE get back to discussing chicks and sex and stuff?
