Half way to a set of these OEM S63 wheels
My favorite 20 AMG wheel on the 221. Picked up two rears with sensors on eBay at $600 for the set shipped. One is ready to go, one needs some minor reconditioning.
S/CL AMG
Just need to hunt down the 8.5" fronts. If anyone happens to come across one or two let me know. They look a lot like the 5 spoke 20's that the regular S550 got as the Sport Plus, but they're more aggressive:

They're all pretty vulnerable...OEM, replicas, aftermarket...if the road conditions are bad enough the S can crush pretty much anything with its weight. Roads here are flat and no winters here so very few potholes. Those in particular may be more so since the spokes are tapered quite a bit. We'll see. Does your wheel guy know where I can find my last front?

Hah. Yeah, Ebay is it. I just need to wait for one to come up. $1300 w/tires was a good deal! Need to decide if I'm keeping my other S63 wheels as a spare set or unloading them. I have six (4 on the car, 1 each spare front and rear).

Sigh.... I may have the droids you're looking for...
Well, I do like the look of these rims also. Two months ago I got a nice high mileage 2012 S350 with 4 of these babies and relatively new Falken (yuck) tires.
Friday, my Phoenix independent mechanic told me 1 of the tires was separating, and another was close (after he fixed my AC blower motor as you guys have told me was due).
So I went into Discount tire, they gave me a decent price on tires minus warranty coverage on 1 tire. On the other tire, they told me the rim was bent, but suggested I wait until the first rotation to have it fixed. Fine, new tires weren't expected, but I hate replacing just 2, so ouch to the wallet for all 4.
All fine, like the way the new tires ride,,,until jump to Monday. Low air pressure on one (front) tire. Go to discount expecting a fast air fill and reset TPMS. Nope - shows me that the "bent" rim is actually a cracked rim, about 2 inches in from the outside edge. Not major, but clear crack. The rim expert took it and is deciding whether it can be fixed (tomorrow). If so, I'm fixing it, but if not, I may buy a used set from someone (I actually would not mind the original 18's), and would be looking to sell the 3 rims from this set.
I can't tell yet whether they are all the same 8.5 or 9.5 (you guys know what came with the sport plus one option on S350?), or whether they are staggered - Discount just put 255's on all 4, I personally prefer NOT staggered.
Anyway, not certain yet I'll be selling these, but will post tomorrow what the rim doctor says and whether I'd sell 3 of them.

Well I over paid for the last one but it completed the set. One rear with scuffed spokes is off to Turbax for reconditioning and the rest should be good to mount.

Ya, tried to get a pic of them with my iPhone before my original post, but couldn't get'r done since the 3 are still on the car and the one cracker is at the rim doc.
I managed to wait until my wife couldn't take pics of me in the garage, and did gymnastics to take a photo from underneath.
Sure enough, these are A221 401 2402. Could not for the life of me get the width in a pic - have to wait until tomorrow for the one off the car.
Pretty darn close match, I would say, tho! More tomorrow. Glad you got your set completed, had mine worked, I'd have given you a great deal for all the things I've learned from your posts on the forum, very informative, thanks and good luck!

Yeah. I got lucky on the rears because they were "raw" (hadn't been reconditioned) so I knew what they looked like before they were painted over. Both from the same vendor as well. The fronts were tougher to find and more expensive, and both had been reconditioned.

That's the wheel we talked about a while back. Love that wheel. Can't wait to see it. It's full silver and not machined anywhere, right?

Yeah, whenever I think about a fresh set of wheels I keep coming back to those, so I figured I'd try a set. They should be less expensive to recondition (all painted vs machined face) and easier to clean without that little gap between the split spokes on my current wheels. I should have all of them back by next week for mounting.

The raised area on the spokes are quite a bit more pronounced and more tapered at the the lip end on the S63. They look very similar head on, but at an angle you can see how much taller the raised areas are.

Found the last front on a Craigslist in San Antonio. Ellusive little Bastid! It'll need reconditioning but in a couple of weeks they'll be on the car.

Well as is sometimes the case when you're buying piecemeal there's a color difference amongst them. It's subtle but it would bug me. I'm probably going to have to spray them myself as a set.
I picked up a hyper silver Kit by Duplicolor and I have an old 220 rim to experiment on. Just prepped it and gave it a black undercoat. I'll shoot the silver and clear tomorrow and see how it turns out.
