19" OEM staggered wheels setup to 18" OEM non-staggered
I have the 2008 S550 with AMG Sport Package that came with the 19" wheels staggered set up and is now considering trying the NON-staggered 18" wheels setup. It would be 255/45/18 for all four wheels.
Will this cause any issues besides loosing a little bit of traction?
Just looking for even more comfort ride if possible.
Thanks.

No issues with that swap. Although the car should be very soft on your 19's. Is Airmatic on the softest setting (comfort) and are the tires not overinflated? Can I ask what you drove before that makes the 221 ride too hard by comparison?

Car came with the 19" then I switched to 20"
which looks fantastic but the ride suffers a little bit. I have the tires at 40psi so I won't hit a hole and damage a wheel.
Came across a good deal on 18" OEM 5 spoke wheels that came from an 07 which looks ok in style with 4 Michelins and TPMS, so figured I would try to see if the ride is going to be much more comfortable with the 18".
As long as it does not throw off sensors or lights because of loosing traction or something similar due to narrower tire width.
The S550 is the most expensive car I have ever owned BTW. So it should be the most comfortable ride I have driven.

How about just going back to the 19's?Eventually you get to the point where there's so much sidewall the handling gets very spongy and there's not a huge improvement in ride. What tires are you running on the 20's?

I still have the 19" wheels and can always go back to the original setup
Currently the fronts are 245/ 40 /20
and the rears are 275/ 35 /20
All four tires are set at 40 psi, is that too much ?

No, I think it calls for 42lbs but check the sticker on the drivers door jamb. 20's will ride stiffer and give you more road feel (tiny vibrations to the steering wheel from minor imperfections in the road service). I'd go to the 19s with Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Very smooth riding, ultra quiet tires built especially for the S Class.
