Winter Tires and Rims for 2013 model year
I realize it is still early in the season but I do live in WI. As I have only owned the car since May, I need to decide what to do for the winter. My wheels are 19 inch with Conti's on them.
I would like to hear what recommendations there are for a winter set up. I was thinking of possibly going as far as 17 inch rims? I will probably go for a Tire Rack combo

Option A: Just get some snow tires or get some continental DWS all-seasons they are great in snow.
Option B: Purchase some 18" used MB WHEELS on eBay or craigslist and buy the aforementioned tires listed above. With option B you can keep the tires on the wheels and just swap them out during the winter.
Option C: Go the tire rack route, however; you're going to hate looking at your car during the winter months with that set up, but if you think you can bare it go with this.

Depends on the weather
or you can just buy a used 4x4 and not drive the W221 during the snow/rain. That's what I do...I only drive mine on nice sunny days...which is hard as I want to drive it all the time.

In WI you will want option B or C. I'm in Northern IL and snow tires are a must in our brutal winters with RWD.
But you might be able to get aways with all seasons with 4matic.

I ran my 20's through the winter on my S550 4Matic and it worked out good but I got a truck for winter this year so no snow/salt for the W221. I imagine you get quite a bit of snow so I would consider it...not worth risking getting stuck or in an accident.

Here is a st of OEM take-offs with work out tires that we could replace with a good winter setup and ship them to you.

Anyone who lives in a state that has rough winter seasons should do this if its in the budget, you won't regret it!
