congrats.
would love some of your thoughts on the "new" S550 versus your prior.
i just test drove 2008 yday and i really did not like the seats - shaped poorly, like my old W220 S600.
plus, the side mirrors seem small - the 2010+ seem much nicer.

You are the very first person I've heard make that kind of comment about the seats. IMO, they are the most comfortable seats of any car on the market. Perhaps I'm spoiled by the Napa leather and massage feature. I have a feeling your body is misshapen if you can't find a super comfortable position.

2008 S550 4Matic
The 2008 was a good car but the 13 is a far better, well rounded car. First, the TT engine is amazing, it's fast when needed and smooth when required. The lighting package is a nice feature. Adaptive lighting makes night time driving in the country just fun. The headrests are a little more tolerable. I've also changed all the interior lighting with leds so it's different. The telematics are different from the 2008. Far more detail and with 3D maps. Overall it's just a far better car even though it looks the same

Congrats on the new to you car, too bad about the Distronic Plus and Heated Steering (I use it and it is still fun observing how it works on different roads) wheel (I still have not used mine).

When I first got the heated steering wheel in my '05 S500 4Matic, I thought what a gimmick. Now a few cars later (Even my wife's '11 Lincoln MKX has it), I love it every time the temp gets under 30 degrees and I get into a cold car and I think "AAAAH".

If you're talking S550 vs S550, your statements are somewhat true. It really depends on the options the '08 car had vs the '13. For sure the motor is a huge improvement and much more tunable with the turbos. The '08 can get the 3D maps with the telematics/COMAND software update that came out in I believe 2009. Other things like blind spot detection and lane departure I believe were options sometime in 2008, but standard by 2013. A fully optioned '08 is almost identical to the '13, except for the motor, facelift, and a few options not available back in '08.

Otherwise the car came with seats that look identical to the active/massage but instead of the adjustable air bladders it had solid foam in the bolsters, seat bottom and seat back. It did have a bladder for lumbar only, but unless you loved the contour and firmness of the seats overall, you were stuck.
In 2010+ the massage/active seats came with the basic P1 so virtually all 2010 and up got them.

Nice car Popo, congrats. Question, how come you didn't get the w222 being that going from the 08' to the 13' are so similar?
