Car wont Start
Hi Guys
My car will not start, I tried to jump start it and all it does is make a very faint click noise, all electric works in interior, but just wont crank over, just very faint click noise.
Any ideas before I tow it to shop, starter, relay, battery etc

If you have the earlier version of the W221, there are two batteries. The starter battery is under the hood on the passenger side. The consumer battery is hidden behind the back seat and accessed from the trunk. If your starter battery was dead and the consumer battery is working then it would explain why the interior electronics still work. Check the starter battery under the hood first to see if it's still good. BTW, when my car wouldn't start, I called MB Roadside Assistance. The Mercedes roadside tech arrived and did some checks with a voltmeter to determine that the starter battery was dead. He had a new replacement starter battery in his van so no tow to the dealer was needed. Hope that helps.

you dont check car battery with voltmeter. 12v + on the battery terminals means nothing.
battery needs to be load tested with a load testing tool.
i agree that his starter battery is prolly dead.

Thanks for the correction. I didn't know, but mechanics PROBABLY call it a load testing tool.

Just got a call from my Indy shop and informed me it was the starter motor, quoted me $280 plus labour, not bad as I paid around $700 on my W220 for same issue.

Starters are cheap....since they are usually rebuilds. When the shop takes the one out of your car, they collect the core charge and send it in to be rebuilt and resold to another customer.
I remember buying a starter for my old '72 Chevy Monte Carlo for $40 as a rebuild. A new one was over $100. This was over 30 years ago, but you get the point. I miss the simplicity of working on that Chevy 350 motor.
