I almost purchased the JAG XJL

TaTa motor owns it and they have made major improvements and built a really solid car.

Anyway - I'm sorry guys....the sound system in the jag sounds like I added 2 subs and all kinds of tweeters. The bass and clarity is absolutely ridiculous! The drive is butter smooth and the power is nice even though it's 385hp it's only around 4000lbs and when you put it in sport and dynamic mode it moves.

I saw it online Thursday, flew down this morning and drove it back home! :-)

It's a 2011 XJL, Liquid Silver and had 36k miles on it before I drove it home and it's still under factory warranty. 1 owner, guy barely drove it. Smells like brand new leather. It has the panoramic roof, massaging heated and cooled seats, rear mirrors, sunshades, lcd screen for the speedo, touchscreen nav, HD radio, xm, dvd player, etc. Rear passegers have their own climte controls, etc. It's fully loaded and I got a GREAT deal!

Can't wait to go out and look at it tomorrow in the light as I havent had a chance to explore it since I drove it straight back after buying it.

Few pics for now. I still cant get over the freaking sound system. You can literally feel the base in your chest.

Once I tint the windows it's going to look 100% better. It's not a benz but it's a really nice car.

I ALMOST FORGOT! So to turn on certain things like the cabin lights or open the glove box etc all you have to do is wave your hand in front of them...crazy!

Tired- long drive. Post more tomorrow.

Hey bruh, nice ride. When I was search for my next ride. I looked at the XJL several times and thought that I was going to buy until I drove the S550 and it was like fallen in love.....

The XJL is a nice ride, but the Benz is like OMG for me.

Yeah I still love benz..once you have an S600 it's a different world. I like the tech and sound system and interior in the jag over the benz while the exterior of the benz is nothing but eye candy and grabs your attention like none other.

If you like your S550, wait until you test an S600.

Nice. I actually looked at a couple of 911 4s and turbos....they are nice and while I was so ready to get one, I decided I still would like to have 4 doors right now. I looked at the Cayenne Turbo S too but they are hard to find, only the turbos and s everywhere.

My next car is going to be a 458 Speciale, 911 Turbo or a Bentley GT....could be in 6 months could be in 2 years but I've narrowed it down to those...of course that depends on if we have kids or not but at this point, we both agree that we love the freedom we have and traveling very often. My wife has actually come around to being ok with my hobby/addiction of cars.

haha, thanks Dave. One thing I have learned in my 33 years of life, thus far, is that no one will ever like what you do, how you do it, or why you do it, the same way that you do, but the most important thing is that you like it. I don't take anything as criticism really, I just take it as a persons perspective. We all have one, and there isn't a right or wrong..it' just what it is.

Oh and yes, whatever exotic car I do get will be a weekend car only. There are several people around here that have 458's and 911 GT3's and you only see them on Fridays-Sundays, otherwise you will see them in their garage sitting, looking pretty.

I was looking at XJR s at one point a few years ago. I think it's nice to have some variety and change things up. Each manufacturer has some different approaches to the same market segment. The newer B&W branded audio systems appear to be an improvement on the older Alpine branded ones.
I know that Lexus uses Mark Levinson but that's really a cheat since real ml home audio is very high end and would be more expensive than the entire car.
The Bentleys are lavishly finished and it's like having nice furniture, they do depreciate and there seems to be no collectible market for recent Bentleys. It's still a really nice car though, heavy, fast, comfy.
I think the Ferrari is a neat idea, but this also feeds into the collector car market, which is bubbling due to the current low interest rate environment. Still, it may have a long way to go as we may be stuck in a long term economic stagnation, sort of like Japan.
The 458 is supposed to be fantastic to drive. Even if maintenance is expensive, you may end up with a net profit from a few years of ownership. Any customization at all on the 458 will likely affect value, and not in a good way.
Personally, I'd really like to have the Ferrari, a 458, 599, or an f12 would all be fantastic.

Yes, bentleys just look nice to me inside and out. I wouldnt be doing many mods to it, just tint the window really, it's come with everything just about 100% perfect.

This is why I like variety too and have an addiction that my wife is ok with. I cannot live with 1 or 2 cars. How I wake up in the morning is when I decide what to drive and leave whatever my wife wants to drive also. I drive a lot, kids are all going somewhere everyday and will drive sometimes all of them in a day. I'll drop my kids off at Ballet and pick them up with something else and they are always looking around the parking lot in confusion some days.

I could buy a 100k car and loose my *** in depreciation in a couple years or buy my 4 25k-30k cars at their depreciation lows and not loose anything. You seem like the same, enjoy the Jag, look forward to buying the next

Exactly. I don't think I'd ever buy a car new...wait until the depreciation sets in and then buy one in excellent condition. Thanks, I am enjoying it. An '11 with 30k miles and all you smell is the leather...guy barely drove the thing and it was just him. It's basically a brand new car.

Wait until the kids are all driving. Then the "exotic" stable looks like a 2012 VW CC, a 2015 Scion FRS, a 2005 Toyota Camry (practice car for my 15 year old daughter...then she wants a used SLK). Then the wife got a new Audi Q7 to take the 15 year old and gear to cheerleading competitions. I won't go into what high limit insurance on three drivers under 21 runs.

But yeah, I have zero problems figuring out which car to drive every morning. 😀

Mike, How are you liking the Q7? I had one right before my S550. Always had an SUV as my twins are 7. I'm a Audi guy and always had them till recently. I loved the looks of the Q7 but the kids destroyed the interior, Cardomon Beige in 2 years . A/C did not have rear air and living in Florida is not fun without it and the pano roof was like living in a green house. I limo tinted the roof and it helped. The power cover is more light transmitting than the S550.

I have a feeling that he's going to tell you that the Audi is nothing more than a gussied up and overly expensive VW Toureg. He probably wouldn't be too far off in that assertion. To me, all Audi's look very bland on the outside, and their interiors are over-rated by auto journalists.

I hate that turd. Sexy design, and it drives well, but of course the interior materials are a step above cardboard, and the seats are terrible. Cheap brittle leather, bad design. I was trying to get her into either an MDX or a GL. The Audi store had an Acura store adjacent, same owners, so I had them pull up the Q7 and MDX side by side and we went from one to the other comparing features.

The Acura had much nicer seats, perforated glove soft leather, great support. I asked the sales bozos why the $40k Acura had better seats than the $60k Audi. This is what they said, and I **** you not: "It's actually a safety feature. These Audis are so fast that they want to make sure you're always alert. They're afraid you'll get too comfortable" The Q7 is one of a couple of cars in the Audi line up that has no cousin at VW. It was a late entry into the luxury SUV space by Audi and it is unique to Audi, but that doesn't mean it isn't a overpriced turd.

Thanks for your opinion. I am starting to look at SUV's and Q7 is on my list to check out.

WHPH28, Congratulations! Only sat in Jags at the auto shows and probably didn't pay much attention as I am a Benz person, but I think the photos of the interior and exterior actually looks great. I don't see too many on the road, so there is a little bit of exclusivity with these, especially in the Bay Area. Very nice.

Yeah, it's worth a look. At $45k it would be a great buy. I just get the sense that those four interlocking rings on the grille cost an extra $15,000. In the gorgeous showroom, surrounded by all of Audi's beautiful designs its easy to get sucked in. After you live with it for a few months the veneer wears thin. Just for me though. My wife absolutely loves the thing.

I did like mine a lot. It had 3rd row and looked good. must get rear a/c. I didn't even think that would be an option. My kids in 3rd row looked like a dog locked inside a car.

I had all 3. Touareg V6, Cayenne Twin Turbo and the Q7 V8. They were all a bit different. Touareg drove more truck like, Cayenne stiffer but car like and Q7 smoother but just as sporty. Battery change was a pain in the *** under the drivers seat and rear hatch struts are almost impossible to change. No major problems with any.

Just make sure she is happy all around and you'll be happy and able to do what you want lol.

I guess after having 7 cars in the last 12 months, she is just used to it now lol. She knows it's my hobby and she respects that...When I told her I needed her to drop me off at the airport because I found a car that I am going to go buy and drive home she was fine with it lol. I was shocked... I guess she knows I buy my cars from FL and it's no longer a surprise to her.
