The C Class guys aren't ready for me. Last time I was on there I had a little tiff with this mouthy blowhard over nothing. He ended up melting down so bad, he got his account suspended. Then he asked the admin to completely delete his user account. Then two weeks later he was back with a different username and I recognized his faggy writing style and popped him again.
It's probably better all around if I stay here.

BTW, Mike, thanks for taking out the trash.

Requires glue and rivets to replace. Please entertain us and send photos of back side with bumper removed!
So what do you think the inner quarters, trunk floor and rear rails are going to look like? I ball parked a safe repair at north of $10k. Interested to get your take as an actual collision tech.

OP - I have seen hundreds of w221's at the auction. You are 100% right, this looks very clean. Most of them I open the door and want to puke - the leather is ripped/stretched - the smell could kill someone. Of all the cars I look at, the S class is the most disregarded when it comes to auctions. The hit is not bad either. I'm not sure of the route of doing it yourself, but I wish you the best.

Just after Thanksgiving my 2007 E350 was hit from behind. The bumper cover was torn a bit but not too bad. If you looked carefully, however, you could see a very slight distortion in the left quarter. You had to move your head back and forth to catch the reflection just right to see it as it is was that minor. Total bill for the repair was just under $8K. It was pretty darn close to being totaled. I was very surprised at how much work had to go into fixing the car. Fortunately for me the car was in mint shape, under 100K miles and the other guys insurance didn't give me much hassle in getting it repaired. I got it back a couple weeks ago and it looks perfect. I'm afraid much more than $10K will be required to get the OP's car properly repaired. Maybe the car be sold to someone who will part it out? I'd hire a lawyer and say that with no key they have to take the car back... it would definitely be worth some money to get OUT of this deal NOW.

I hope he keeps posting in this thread about everything he does to the car to get it up to his "perfectionist" standards. This is going to keep getting better and better.

Wow, and I didn't think it could get much better than this... https://mbworld.org/forums/sl55-amg-...lattering.html
This is my first visit to the 221 forum ... I'll have to pop over more often if this is what it's like here.

This is the beginning of the R&I. Look Carefully at the pictures of the 1/4 panel dents. They were actually put there to make the car seem like the rear buckled! lol, when you look close you see its all straight, save for the bends. There are marks where the dents are showing that they were put there by hand. ..lol
Notice how the door jams are flush? That less than 2" rear bump and the and the Rear Bumper support are the only things that damaged.
On the left side of the 1/4 panel you can see scratches going upward. They stop at the indentation. Meaning that, Mallet is what bumps it back out.
So again, The 1/4 Panels were damaged on purpose after the fact to doop guys like mike into assuming its a 10k repair with proper R&I, or even the "I".
The car is Very dirty atm. There is alot of soot, dirt, and sand on it from 4 months of sitting in the junkyard.

You seriously think someone came in after the accident and creased both quarters to make the damage seem worse? For what purpose? Look at the 2nd pic on the truck. See how the rear of the car behind the C pillar is drooping down? That looks like unibody damage and it's consistent with the previous pics that also seem to show the rear drooping. It's also consistent with the creased quarters. Finish the tear down and get it on a frame rack to be measured. That will tell you how bad the rear is torqued.

Sorry buddy....it was late and I was probably a little loopy too. All of the above is true, except for the last few words. The last part was probably a bit harsh....at least for now.
A big mallet and a new bumper cover aren't going to fix your car enough to make it eligible for a rebuilt title. The repairs are likely going to need to be inspected by a rep of the DMV in your state before a title will be issued so you can drive it legally on the street and obtain registration. Even though the damage may not seem that bad to your untrained eye, it is likely A LOT worse than you think. I wouldn't be spending any money on anything else like nav disks, bumper covers, or the like until you have somebody qualified tear into it to assess the extent of the damage. Boris and Ivan probably aren't the right guys to be looking at it.

That's not a nice thing to say about somebody's future daily driver that he's going to haul his family around in. Rumor has it that he's planning on shodding it with some Cooper Tires to balance out the wallowing from the quarter panels flexing as he drives over hills, dips, and other minor road imperfections.

I wouldn't call it a POS. anything is fixable, my friend's shop rebuild a 64 Mustang from nothing but a windshield frame.
There's a right way and a wrong way of fixing cars. We'll see the route the OP takes
