Seafoamin' the 'Cedes?
I bought a bottle of seafoam for my S and am wondering if using to clean the engine would be safe for sensors, ect. Would it be possible to use it for the gas tank/transmission/crank case.
I've used it in all my past cars with good results.

You buy it before asking if its safe to use on the car? lol
The past few weeks on here has been really lively in the w221 forum cause of you...lol
The S class is very sensitive lady. Tiny changes can throw off sensors etc. user discretion is advised.

Thanks man, I feel we all make it lively I figured it wouldn't hurt to buy it. If I got a poor response about it on the forum then I can always use it on my Acura. Or use it to clean the 'Cedes injectors via the gas tank. I figure that is going to be safe enough.

When I did my spark plugs I sprayed seafoam into the cylinders and let it sit. Of course I changed my oil afterwards too, since the seafoam will seep by the rings down into the crank case.

I wouldn't put seafoam in an s221. And I love seafoam. You are better off putting a bottle of chevron techron in the tank and do some spirited driving.
I absolutely wouldn't put anything but recommended oil in crankcase either.

Is that a pic of our engine? I understand what seafoam does in the cylinders, but why let the liquid sit in the chamber vs. having it be slowly sucked into the engine via intake tube?

Yes. Both seafoam and chevron techron are very similar in what they do. In my mind seafoam is prolly even better. However, chevron techron is the only Mercedes officially approved additive for your car.

If you really want to get that engine all sparkly, then have the Motorvac treatment done at the dealer or a reliable indy. That will remove about 100x more crud than Seafoam or Techron. Both Seafoam and Techron do almost nothing, as evidenced by folks who've actually scoped the cylinders before and after running the treatment. Motorvac will get the cylinders, intake, and everything else it runs through looking like brand new. It will even clean out your cats. And it only costs around $150-200 to have the service done. It brings back lost power and increases fuel mileage. Lost compression due to age and wear magically comes back to full strength, and vacuum pressure readings return to normal levels.
