i'm new here, so hopefully i'm in the right place? i recently purchased a 2012 s550 and i have a iPhone 6 (software version iOS 9.3.2) anyhow, my issue is trying to get my iPhone 6 to work with the comand system. my phone BT is all set up, paired without issue and works fine. i'm aware the BT does not stream music. however, when i try plugging it into the glovebox connector... it doesn't recognize my phone and reads - "no device connected" the cord that came with the car has a 30 pin iPod/iphone connector and a 1/4" female audio jack. i get those don't fit either!! so i went to my MB dealer and they gave me a glovebox module connector with the 6 pin lightning connector. (PN A000 827 12 00) the connector fits perfectly into the glovebox module and my phone! BUT, unfortunately the system STILL doesn't recognize my iPhone!! i have spent countless hours trying to figure this all out so i can play spotify (hard wired) without issues!! nothing i've tried works... and the dealer just throws his hands up. so did the MB office rep i spoke with! she even told me... "the technology has changed since my 2010 yukon was made" REALLY, i'm sure! but it did work in 2010!!!i told them my 2010 yukon NEVER had any issues playing spotify by simply plugging my iPhone into the usb port!! everything played fine and spotify menu was always perfectly displayed on my dash screen!!!

has anyone experienced this nightmare or knows the part number for the correct connecting cable? or a functional "work around"? any feedback would be greatly appreciated!! thanks!!

i'm so worn out and frustrated... i'm about ready to pay $100 cash to the first person who can help get my issue finally resolved with my s550 and iPhone 6!!

Well, we can go two ways. You can add streaming BT audio by using the original 30 Pin to Media Interface cable and adding a Tune2Air 1000 adapter (Amazon, $80). Works like a charm, and retains some steering wheel control to skip tracks and for volume.

For a hard dock, the Lightning adapter the dealer sold you has the wrong pin-outs for the 221. MB never made one for the 221. Chuck it. Go to Best Buy and grab a $30 Apple 30 Pin to Lightning Adapter. If you want to extend the cable into the cabin, get a CableJive Dock Extender, and use the Apple adapter at the end.

DO NOT ACCIDENTALLY ORDER The"CableGuy Dick Extender"! If you do, try to catch the UPS man when he delivers it or you'll have a LOT of explaining to do to your wife.

Also, since the stock 221 audio kind of sucks, get the Spotify EQu by Elephant Candy (App Store). It'll let you dial down the mids and boost the bass.

thank you sooooo much for the info and quick response! i will definitely get the Tune2Air adapter and try it out! i really appreciate your feedback!! LOL on the dick vs. dock extender! that's hilarious! my wife is already laughing about that! sadly, she suggested i order both! ha! ha!

and as soon as i figure out who benz55s is, i'm pretty sure he's gonna need some ice soon! LOL
but seriously, if all works out, i'm more than happy to send you the $100 for your time and guidance!
