Just make sure you don't use the ones that are impregnated with oil. Plus compare the filter efficiency\particle size with the OEM before you make the classic marketing mistake!!

If you're looking to get the K&N strictly for performance gain, you're wasting your money. You'll get zero HP gain out of them despite the mfr claims.

If you're filters need to be changed, and the K&N's are cheaper than the OEM filters, then go for it.

I've used K&N filters on my cars and motorcycles over the years, and as Dave has suggested never seen any performance gains.
Oil filters -especially for motorcycles- are important parts which can be crucial to the operation of the engine. Most cheap aftermarket brands have particle size incompatibilities and should be avoided. K&N mostly outperforms those brands.
I'm sure MB uses high quality filters and you probably would be better off using OEM unless there's a huge price difference.

If there was a FOAM filter, you would see gains.

Nothing wrong with kn filters as long as you don't overoil them. Use the kn kit to recondition them when they get dirty.

I use them on all my regular, race cars and motocycles.

I'm using AFE dry filters, no oil and 99.4% filtering efficiency. Very dusty up north, I can vacuum or wash them every few months. Price was the same as two disposable oem filters.
