Homelink button stuck in and broken...

The homelink button to get in my garage is stuck in place and will not come out. Button must have broke. Since it's stuck in, you can't use other buttons either now. Is this covered under Mercedes extended warranty?

sample pic of the offending part from ebay:

It's an electrical component, so I have to assume that it would be covered. You should put that back together before taking it to the dealer though.

Dealer says not covered, just called. $1,300. Are they wrong? I'm still under the certified extended warranty.

That pic was from ebay, not mine, just for reference.

You should have a copy of the EW policy. You should look through it and see which items are specifically excluded.

Thanks. DOn't have it here with me, won't until next week. This dealer though likes to argue things. THey even said the leaking washer tank wasn't covered either.

It sounds like you need to find a new service writer or a new dealership altogether.

Warranty repairs are paid at a lower rate than if the car had no warranty. That dealership may just be greedy.

Damn,

Probably cheaper to try to repair it yourself being that you already have it off.

If contemplating DIY view 211 repair attempt, same procedure for 221, here (need to log in): http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w211...-opener-2.html

Thanks guys. So, I called my "other" mercedes dealer, which is just futher away then the closer one I use. They sent out one of their concierge guys today to look at it. I don't know why he did, but it's now fixed and guess how much? $0.00. He fiddled with it a little and somehow everything went back to normal.

BTW, great DIY link above! That would be a pretty easy repair just to swap buttons out from another mirror off ebay for peanuts,.

Resurrecting an old post here instead of starting a new one...

Does your Homelink on your W221 or C216 still work, with a modern garage door opener? I've tried programming mine, but nothing seems to get it working. I've programmed a lot of European garage door openers over the years, so pretty sure it is not user error. Wondering if mine is broken, or if I just can't expect this ancient tech to work.
